This week learning is\u2026 creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand\/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Monday 3rd March<\/h3>\n

With world book day this week. An interest tray was set up with the Gruffalo to spark interest of stories. Rosie, Leo, Euan and Innes showed interest of this tray as they spoke about parts of the story they liked. \u201cI like the bit with the owl.\u201d \u201cI like the mouse because he chases everyone back into their house.\u201d \u201cI like the fox bit because I just like foxes.\u201d \u201cI like the mouse because it find the Gruffalo.\u201d Both the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo\u2019s child was out on display the children were asked what book was their favourite. \u201cI like both books the same.\u201d \u201cI like the Gruffalo\u2019s child better.\u201d While observing their play they were beginning to talk about personal experiences linking to the stories. \u201cThe woods is just like berries den.\u201d \u201cThe glitter side is like Christmas with snow.\u201d The children used the puppets to retell the story and then used other characters to create their own version of the Gruffalo \u201cSonic you need to touch some snow.\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t like snow.\u201d \u201cLet\u2019s fly away from the snow.\u201d \u201cLook a den.\u201d \u201cThere\u2019s no space for everyone.\u201d \u201cWe need to build another.\u201d The children confidently waited their turn and concentrated very well to tell the next part of the story and independently shared resources.<\/p>\n

This afternoon Emily and Fraser spending time at the nail bar engaged in simple role playing, using skills to engage and negotiate with each other. Fraser used his fine motor to manipulate the tops, twisting on and off, then hand and eye coordination to place the varnish onto the nails. Emily then proudly showed them off.<\/p>\n

Tuesday 4th March<\/h3>\n

Today at the forest Innes, Reuben, Zac, Rosie, Flora, Sehrish and Joni enjoyed the den that had been built. \u201cIt\u2019s like a house but a bit small.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s very windy in here.\u201d The children shared their thoughts and worked together to problem solve how they could block out the wind. \u201cI know we could use our bags.\u201d The children worked together to carry their bags over to block the wind coming into the den.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Today at the forest Jackson, Cammy and Leo were taking turns moving the tree developing their gross motor skills while playing work men. \u201cWe need to climb to cut the tree down. Which Robin and Jude then took an interest in as well and joined in their play.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Today at the forest Florence, Gregor, Innes and Flora used their spacial awareness to watch out for friends while running around the forest playing \u201crats and pussy cats\u201d where the pussy cats chase the rats to swap roles.<\/p>\n

Wednesday 5th March<\/h3>\n

This afternoon a group of children were busy working together to complete a range of jigsaws. They worked the way through a dinosaur and Pater Pan, then we looked at a range of feelings and they could confidently describe what they could see in the completed puzzle. They used skills to turn the pieces and to colour match the image.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With world book day tomorrow some of our children created their own story. A group of children created their own dreams and fairy tale by creating their own story using the book You Choose. They all enjoyed it and asked to do more.<\/p>\n

Thursday 6th March<\/h3>\n

Today outside Annie and Reuben used the seeds from Annie\u2019s costume to care for the nature in our environment. \u201cWe are going to feed the birds.\u201d \u201cI think the birds will like that\u201d. Annie and Reuben confidently used the seeds from Annie\u2019s bag to feed the birds in the nursery garden.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Today Euan, Innes, Gregor, Brodie, Sehrish, Joni and Rosie are developing their gross motor skills. The confidently and independently preformed and repeated dance moves while dancing along to a holiday park video. They used the space creatively and ensured they never bumped into their peers. \u201cCan we do another one.\u201d The children were keen to have another dance video they could copy.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This morning we had a tea party theme to the story book Alice in Wonderland. We had triangle sandwiches of cheese or Ham, with had the Hungry caterpillar made with grapes and cucumber along with a pot of apple juice for tea. We also made jam tarts but unfortunately they got stuck in the baking trays so we quickly made more. This was a good example to show the children that sometimes things don\u2019t work, so we keep trying. Afterwards the children gave a big thumbs up to the snack.<\/p>\n

Today inside using loose parts and junk modelling Cameron, Leo, Jackson and Brodie worked together using their imagination to create a castle.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Friday 7th March<\/h3>\n

Today more children enjoyed finding out about other people\u2019s cultural and religious beliefs by creating a gift\/money box top celebrating Ramadan. They used skills to decorate using a range of materials, recognising how the glue was very sticky and it made lots of mess.<\/p>\n

Today the children were talking about healthy foods. They decided to help make smoothies at snack today. They discussed how the blender works and what ingredients were needed. They confidently helped mix the milk and fruit into a \u00a0smoothie.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our Cosy Time Library \ud83d\udcda This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read \ud83c\udfe1There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child\u2019s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned \u270d\ufe0fThere will be pens and hand sanitiser available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you \ud83d\ude03There will be a folder with your child\u2019s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back \ud83d\udcc1A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help \u263a\ufe0f<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Can all parents label items of\u00a0 your child’s clothing.<\/li>\n
  • Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.<\/li>\n
  • Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.\ud83c\udf47<\/li>\n
  • Can we remind all parents\\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.<\/li>\n
  • Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to play outside when it\u2019s wet.<\/li>\n
  • Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.<\/li>\n
  • If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.<\/li>\n
  • Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.<\/li>\n
  • Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.<\/li>\n
  • There is learning at home sheets available in the nursery to share your child’s learning and experiences you do at home.\n
