Hello everyone, Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery this week…..<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

This week learning is\u2026 creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand\/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

On Monday morning a group of children\u00a0 participated in some\u00a0 yoga activities that supports their\u00a0 mental and physical well-being.. They listened and watch carefully to the instructions to move their bodies in a range of balance and\u00a0 stretch\u00a0 type movements, whilst supporting their developing awareness of space and others around them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Throughout the week some children have been busy creating a range of models using the blocks either has a\u00a0 group or independently. They used\u00a0 a range of blocks to create a models of\u00a0 houses. They incorporated the dolls from the dollhouse to role play families,\u00a0 sharing personal experiences through their play.<\/p>\n

We had some children build an amazing castle. A discussion started about who might live\u00a0 in there, such as queens, kings etc.. They celebrated their achievement\u00a0 to create the castle\u00a0 sharing how it had different rooms. and to point\u00a0 these out to the adults.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Throughout the week\u00a0 groups of children have been out for a walk\u00a0 to collect a range of natural items such as flowers, leaves and sticks for the mud kitchen. When they came back they put them in the mud kitchen where George joined them and used the recipe\u2019s to created different concoctions.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We just want to say a massive thank you to Findlay\u2019s dad Ben who kindly came into nursery today to speak about his job.\u263a\ufe0f The children listened carefully to the information given by Ben, recalling what they had learnt. Below are some of the comments given by the children what they had.<\/p>\n

: \u201cYou\u2019re whole body can get X-rays\u201d \ud83e\ude7b<\/p>\n

\u201cTB makes you poorly\u201d \ud83d\ude37<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you get a bad cough you go to the doctors\u201d \ud83e\udd7c<\/p>\n

\u201cCalpol makes you feel better\u201d\u2764\ufe0f\u200d\ud83e\ude79<\/p>\n

\u201cX-rays can see your bones\u201d \ud83e\uddb4<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have a bad cough you get medicine\u201d\ud83d\udc8a<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can see the bugs in a X-ray\u201d \ud83d\udc1b<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can hear through a stethoscope\u201d \ud83e\ude7a<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you breathe in and out it\u2019s like a balloon\u201d \ud83c\udf88<\/p>\n

Bones are white\u201d \u26aa\ufe0f<\/p>\n

The children got to explore some resources such as a stethoscope, listening to each others hearts. They investigated how lungs fill up through the use of a balloon and pump, and they looked at some x-rays X-rays and\u00a0 a teddy sized version of a bug from the inside of the body.<\/p>\n

At the forest this week some children choose to participate in a bug hunt, promoting skills to find the images hidden around the area. Then use skills to find and match\u00a0 the bug image on the sheet, then mark a circle around the image ready to find another. They teamed up in pairs working together sharing thoughts on where to find more. Another group also worked with the adult to source out a range of natural loose parts such as pine cones to add to out mud kitchen. They used a range of mathematical language such as comparing in making sets of cones\u00a0 The children enjoyed a pesto pizza cooked on the campfire for their mid morning snack.<\/p>\n

We enjoyed a visit from George’s dad Sam ,who took time out to\u00a0 kindly came into nursery today to speak about his job.\u263a\ufe0f The children listened carefully to the information given by Sam and\u00a0 confidently shared back what they had learnt. Once again a very big Thank you to Sam for doing this for the children.\u00a0 Below are some of the comments given by the children that they learned through Sam\u2019s visit:<\/p>\n

\u201cI learnt about skulls.\u201d \ud83d\udc80 \u201cScrewing stuff in heads.\u201d \ud83e\udd15<\/p>\n

\u201cYou put metal on the bones.\u201d \ud83e\uddb4<\/p>\n

\u201cIf a rugby player bashes his head they go to hospital.\u201d \ud83c\udfc9<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you put your finger there (on wrist) you feel your heart beat\u201d \u2764\ufe0f<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bones inside your head are pretty strong.\u201d\ud83d\udcaa<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need glasses to see the bones.\u201d \ud83d\udc53 \u201cThe glasses have a light and microscope to see better.\u201d \ud83d\udd2c<\/p>\n

\u201cThe special medicine puts you to sleep.\u201d \ud83d\ude34<\/p>\n

\u201cYour eyes can go down into a hole\u201d\ud83d\udd73\ufe0f<\/p>\n

A massive thank you to Jeff Layton from Kettle Produce who kindly came into nursery today to speak about his job.\u263a\ufe0f The children listened carefully to the information recalling any new learning that they had learnt. Jeff kindly brought in some lettuce plants,\u00a0 sharing that they need nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, potassium and different elements to help them grow. \ud83c\udf31 Below are some of the comments given by the children by asking questions to further extend their knowledge on plants.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe soil has to be like a chocolate sponge cake.\u201d \ud83c\udf82<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they grow the bees catch the honey.\u201d \ud83c\udf6f<\/p>\n

\u201cThey need food to grow.\u201d \ud83c\udf31<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shape the soil needs to be.\u201d \u2b55\ufe0f<\/p>\n

\u201cPlants need water to grow.\u201d \ud83d\udca6<\/p>\n

\u201cThey need water once a week.\u201d 1\ufe0f\u20e3<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lettuce has to be 6 inches apart.\u201d \ud83e\udd6c<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need to water them.\u201d \ud83d\udca7<\/p>\n

And\u00a0 our final visit this week was from Childsmile. We just want to say a massive thank you to Louise,\u00a0 who kindly came into nursery today to speak about her job.\u263a\ufe0f The children listened\u00a0 to the information given by Louise, recalling what they had learnt. Louise kindly donated Buddy the dog to keep at the\u00a0 Nursery for the children to look after Buddy\u2019s teeth . \ud83d\udc36 Below are some of the comments given by the children.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pink bit is called the gum.\u201d \ud83d\udc44<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to have an adult to brush your back teeth.\u201d\ud83e\uddb7<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to brush your teeth three times a day.\u201d \ud83d\udd70\ufe0f \u201cIf you don\u2019t brush your teeth your teeth might fall out.\u201d \ud83e\udea5<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t have many sweets.\u201d \ud83c\udf6c<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have 28 teeth when you\u2019re big.\u201d 2\ufe0f\u20e38\ufe0f\u20e3 \u201cIf you\u2019re children you have 20 teeth.\u201d 2\ufe0f\u20e30\ufe0f\u20e3<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you put water on your toothbrush the magic will go away.\u201d \u2728<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t eat sweet stuff after you\u2019ve brushed your teeth.\u201d \ud83c\udf6b<\/p>\n

On Friday the PEEP session focused on Support and encouragement down in the bottom garden having fun making an obstacle course, a target practice area and having lots of fun. The dates for all the PEEP and Bookbug sessions you can find on the seesaw app.<\/p>\n

Wednesday 6th May 2026 – Forest day. Meet at 9.00 am at Waterstone Crook.<\/p>\n

Thursday 7th May 2026 – IN- SERVICE DAY. \u00a0No nursery today.<\/p>\n

Friday 8th May 2026 – Physiotherapist talk with Fraser\u2019s mum and colleague.<\/p>\n

– Book Bug session with Miss Nelson at 9. 15 am in the huts. The \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 focus is on \u00a0rhyming.<\/p>\n

Reminders<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Can all parents remember sun cream to be applied before coming to nursery, and that your child has a sun hat too in their bag.<\/p>\n
