Hello everyone, we hope you all have had a great holiday! Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..<\/span><\/h3>\n

This week learning is\u2026 creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand\/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Monday 16th February<\/h1>\n

Today inside a group of children asked to help the ladies. They have been helping by taking the lunches to the office and collect the bands for everyone. They then proceeded to\u00a0 <\/span>have a look at all the loose parts face cards and could name some of the feelings. \u263a\ufe0f<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In the block area, a group of children worked together and\u00a0 <\/span>constructed a chair which was designed to support a person. They celebrated their design and construction and supported their friends to have a seat. \u2018Look Mrs Laing.\u2019 \u2018You can go first.\u2019 \u2018I\u2019ll show you.\u2019 \ud83e\uddf1\ud83e\ude91<\/span><\/p>\n

Today inside a group of children asked to do some Kodaly songs this morning. They used the drum to keep the beat and the rhythm and used different props to help remember their songs. \ud83c\udfb6<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 17th February<\/h1>\n

Today inside some children have been drawing a beautiful picture of their families and using the new whiteboards. They could confidently identify each family member as they spoke through their picture. \ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83e\uddd2\u200d\ud83e\uddd2<\/span><\/p>\n

Today inside a group of children have been working together to make a picture using the coloured pins. They used their colour recognition to match the pins to the board to create different pictures. \ud83d\udd35<\/span><\/p>\n

\nWhile exploring Top Marks games with an adult, a group of children have selected a phonics game and successfully applied their mouse skills and sound knowledge to complete words by selecting the correct initial sound. \ud83d\udd21<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 18th February<\/h1>\n

Through imaginary play a group of children have been using the dressing up outfits to create different characters. They dressed up as an inspector to inspect things, a real hunter their job was to \u201cmake plants grow.\u201d And another hunter and their job was to \u201chelp.\u201d \ud83e\uddd0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today inside a group of children have been developing their motor skills and creativity in the sand by creating different things. One peer created a volcano, while two others worked together to create a home for an electric eel. They created a road and cleared some sand to represent water for the eel to swim in. \ud83c\udf0b<\/span><\/p>\n

Today outside a group of children have been working together to make some pasta using water, lavender and sand in the mud kitchen outside. \ud83c\udf5d<\/p>\n

Thursday 19th February<\/h1>\n

Today inside a group of children have been continuing to explore the technology in the room to complete their number recognition and placing in the correct order. They confidently ordered 1-5, and\u00a0 <\/span>6-10 with some children needing a little bit of support with this to place correctly. With continued support they continued up to 20. \ud83d\udd22<\/span><\/p>\n

Today outside a group of children have been exploring the farm. They have been mimicking the daily routines of farmers and caring for animals, they have been learning responsibilities of farmers and been developing their communication skills by discussing what they were doing. \ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udf3e<\/span><\/p>\n

Today outside a group of children have been developing their fine motor skills and hand\/eye coordination by being creative. They have continued their interest of painting outside and moved to drawing pictures. \u270d\ufe0f<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 20th February<\/h1>\n

Today inside a group of children have been independently and confidently using the smart board to explore measurement as they select the correct answer each time. They were able to check using the ruler and line up to where the object ended and selected the number. They were able to measure using full and half numbers. \u201cThat one\u2019s a 1 and a 5\u201d \ud83d\udccf<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Today a group of children liked the sound of toast for snack. They independently followed routines of collecting their plates and items of food. Some of the children chose to have beans. They then sat down and socially enjoyed their snack together. \ud83c\udf5e<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Today inside a child independently spent a good amount of time in the block area. They used different size and shaped blocks to create a model of Lego city. \u201cI made captain americas room at the very bottom of the avengers tower.\u201d \u201cThis is vibranium shield, it is the strongest metal that nothing can break it.\u201d \u201cWhen captain America throws his shield it bounces off something and comes straight back to him.\u201d \ud83d\udee1\ufe0f<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Cosy Time Library <\/span>\ud83d\udcda<\/span> This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read <\/span>\ud83c\udfe1<\/span>There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you ask a members of the team to help sign the book with your child\u2019s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned <\/span>\u270d\ufe0f<\/span>There will be pens available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you <\/span>\ud83d\ude03<\/span>There will be a folder with your child\u2019s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back <\/span>\ud83d\udcc1<\/span>A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help <\/span>\u263a\ufe0f<\/span><\/h3>\n

Loose Parts.<\/span><\/h3>\n

We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please \ud83d\ude03<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is some of the items we are looking for:<\/span><\/p>\n

Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, wood, drainpipes any old garden furniture such as chairs, tables or parasols, etc,\u00a0 anything you think might be of used in nursery.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reminders<\/span><\/h3>\n

  • Can all parents label items of\u00a0 your child’s clothing.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.<\/span>\ud83c\udf47<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can we remind all parents\\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for all the weather \u00a0conditions that may arise.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to enable play outside when it\u2019s wet.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Bookbug will be next week (27th February 2026)<\/li>\n
  • Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
