Hello everyone, we hope you all have had a great holiday! Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..
This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.
Monday 5th January
Today outside a group of children have been exploring the ice and discussed how it looks a bit like a crystal .🔮
Today inside a group of children participated in a song and rhyme session. They explored number songs and rhythm through using the drum and beater. They enjoyed the song sleeping bunnies the best. 🐰
Today inside at the art area a group of children have been exploring different tools and materials to create models and pictures. 🎨🖌️
Tuesday 6th January
Today inside a group of children have been exploring colours as they have used different colours and mixed them to create lovely pictures.
Today inside a child independently created some play dough and could discuss if they needed more water or flour to find the correct consistency. 💦
Today inside a group of children have been using their fine motor skills to connect the Lego together. They shared their successes with each other by showing each other what they had created. 🧱
Wednesday 7th January
Today a group of enjoyed a nice sociable snack at the snack table. They all independently collected their crockery and followed the number dots to allow them to collect the correct amount of snack. They discussed their favourite part of snack which today the favourite was the cereal. 🥣
Today inside a group of children engaged in a lovely role play experience as they played families together. They confidently could discuss roles they were taking on as they spoke about who was the mum, dad and baby. 🧑🧑🧒
Today outside a group of children were playing with a cheeky robin today who was coming close to them jumping in and out of the bug hotel when they weren’t looking. “I see him where the spiders are!” 🐦
Thursday 8th January
Today a group of children have been working together to fit the puzzle pieces together and confidently tidied up when they were finished. 🧩
Today a group of children were so excited snack was ready that they all went through at the same time to wash their hands. The children could confidently discuss the import of hand washing and why we should use soap. 🧼
Today a group of children enjoyed dressing us using the Lycra as capes. We’re superhero’s. “My superpower is dancing” “my superpower is flying.” 🦸♀️
Friday 9th January
Today inside Fergus and Roddy used different sized and shaped blocks to create a model. They worked together and shared their ideas with each other. “The animals live here.” They created a zoo for the animals with lots of different animals. They discussed how a zookeeper helps the animals by feeding them. “They look after them so they don’t go wild to other animals.” “They also feed them, they feed them different things.” “Sometimes predators eat meat and if they are not predators they eat not meat, they eat leaves on trees and also grass.” 🦍
Today inside a group of enjoyed investigating with the clay. They independently used the roller and their hands and discovered the more they rolled the clay the flatter it was getting and when they used their hands it was turning into a ball. They continued to use more tools and discovered what they do. One child independently created a snowman. ☃️

Today inside the children looked outside at noticed it was snowing 🌨️. They enthusiastically grabbed their waterproofs and jackets to go and play outside. The group of children who went outside independently got themselves ready with all their outdoor clothing and confidently asked for help putting gloves on. 🧤
Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you ask a members of the team to help sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️
Loose Parts.
We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃
Here is some of the items we are looking for:
Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, wood, drainpipes any old garden furniture such as chairs, tables or parasols, etc, anything you think might be of used in nursery.
Reminders
- Can all parents label items of your child’s clothing.
- Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
- Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
- Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
- If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
- Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for all the weather conditions that may arise.
- Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
- Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to enable play outside when it’s wet.
- Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
