Week Beginning 4th November

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

Monday 4th November

Today a group of boys used their initiative and creative skills in building a no go area. They stated that it keeps people out. They worked together to share ideas and resources that further develop their role play.

Today a group of children played tickle tig outside! They are all taking turns to chase and be the tickler 😄

Today a group of children enjoyed a story with Miss Brougham. They were able to retell parts of they story they enjoyed.

Tuesday 5th November

Today a group of children have been working on their hand eye coordination skills as they play football with each other in the garden. They explored how high they could kick the ball as they kicked it from the ground to all the way over the top of the gazebo to the other side! ⚽️

Today a group of children have had a lovely morning in the bottom garden as they explore the seesaw and discuss hight together. “I’m higher”

Today a group of children persevered with a challenge of simple addition with numbers up to 10. They needed support to gain confidence to point and count, but this quickly grew. They worked together and used their initiative to ask for help if they were unsure, or to recheck their answers.

Wednesday 6th November

Today a group of children have been keen to help create and paint for our Christmas enterprise as they make decorations for the tree.🎄

Today a group of children explored new games on the smart board and worked together to operate it using their combined technology skills.


Today a group of children worked together to create an obstacle course using loose parts. They took it in turns to use their balancing skills to walk along the big blocks trying not to fall.

Thursday 7th November

Today a group of children have been developing their fine motor skills and textile techniques. They have been exploring weaving and threading with ribbons and pipe cleaners using different resources to thread through.


Today a group of children discussed their favourite snacks at nursery while they are developing their independence daily by collecting their own snack and displaying their likes and dislikes with the 10 frame.

 


Today a group of children wanted to play duck duck goose. “We can’t run inside we must walk.” They took it upon themselves to play walking duck duck goose to keep everyone safe.

Friday 8th November

Today a group of children explored planting. They were able to discuss basic parts of a plant and how to care for a plant by ensuring they have water and sunlight.


Today a group of children have been developing their fine motor skills and creative skills by creating pictures at the writing table to display in the room and take home.

Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens and hand sanitiser available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️

Reminders

  • Can all parents label items of  your child’s clothing.
  • Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
  • Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
  • Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
  • Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to play outside when it’s wet.
  • Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
  • If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
  • Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
  • Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
  • There is learning at home sheets available in the nursery to share your child’s learning and experiences you do at home.
  • Forest is on Tuesday where we meet at Waterstone crook car park from 9:00-9:15. Can we also just make you aware that with the hot and humid weather that tics may be around in the forest area so encourage you to check your child after every forest session incase any have made their way home on your child!

Week Beginning 30th September 2024

Monday 30th September

 

All the children are becoming more confident with daily routines as they independently place their lunch boxes and water bottles back on their shelf before brushing their teeth.

Today has been a day of being creative outside with loose parts and different materials.

Today a group of children were very proud of the den that they had made to protect the buggies from the rain. They helped each other to lift the stand to put the blanket underneath to stop it from blowing away and helped add the blanket and find tools to make the blanket stay in place. Great team work!

 

“King of the castle!” a child said as they climbed on top of the crates. Another child also joined in and they have now turned the crates into boats 🚤 “I’m the captain” said one of the children.

Tuesday 1st October

Today a group of children used the big tree as an ice cream van and a Pokémon house. They said “it has 51 ice cream flavours, my favourite is chocolate and toffee and mines is vanilla and strawberry.” They were able to discuss as menu and what a menu is used for as well as talking about how they would keep the ice cream cold using the freezer.

Today a group of children helped build with the tarpaulin and bungee cords. Once we had pegged it down they decided they didn’t wants to us it as a den and wanted to use it as a climbing frame and slide instead. They were able to risk assess and talk about how we could keep safe using it. “If someone is underneath no one is on top.” “We talk to our friends to se how they are feeling.”

Today a group of children waited patiently and turn took by using their communication skills to wait for their turn on the rope swing. They confidently discussed how to stay say at the swing. “One at a time and stand back”.

Today a group of children explored mark making using different materials today. The group of children used the dry mud to create shapes and pictures in the mud using their fingers and sticks.

Wednesday 2nd October

Today a group of children helped to prepare a baking activity for snack after the kitchen had given the nursery some extra bananas. We looked at our resources we had in the cupboard and selected banana scones. They used skills to make bread crumbs, mashed and mix and cut out. Along with counting skills up to 24 They enjoyed eating the scones either with honey or butter along with fresh strawberries and raspberry fruit mix. They all agreed that they were amazing and yummy!

Today, groups of children have been creating a mind map to think about who helps us at home. Children were able to think about all the different family, friends and carers and what they do for us to make us feel safe, loved and cared for. Children shared ideas such as “cooking dinner for me” “take me to nursery” “give me cuddles” “help me learn” 🖋️ 💕

Today a group of children were discussing holidays and asked to create a beach. “That beach looks so good”. With a lot of discussion about beaches and what we could find on a beach we worked together to find resources to create our own beach. The children respected the resources and placed them nicely in the sand and water. We need sharks and dolphins “that’s a big shark and that’s a small one.” The children were discussing different animals and their different sizes. “I’ve seen a dolphin when it was very hot”. This then lead to conversations about what we would wear in hot countries and how we would travel to get on holiday. “We need to wear sun cream and sun hats when it’s hot”. “I’m going on a aeroplane to go to London” “I’ll be sitting on a aeroplane to go to Tenerife”. Another peer then said “I got a boat before”. Through observation of watching the group of children playing with the beach they were discussing what would happen if a shark bit them “you would phone an ambulance they help you.” “Yeah you would go to hospital and the doctor would make you better.” They also discussed personal experiences and different holidays they have been on with their families. After this they then role played with the different animals from the sea.

Thursday 3rd October

Through daily play a group of children role played in the home corner. They started off with mums and babies and added a cafe as the mums job. They pretended to cry “the baby is sad” “we need to make her smile to make her happy.” The group of children showed a good under of feelings and emotions people may feel and how they can support them. “You need to give the baby milk.” “You take them for a walk so they go to sleep and give them air.“ “I’m going to the shops to get 5 bags of shopping I need my money and I’ll take the baby with me”“I need to rock my baby to go to sleep.” “She’s not done the toilet yet so we don’t need to change her nappy.” The group of children confidently showed how to care for and look after a baby through role playing. “Mum what can I have to eat” “we have some gummy wipes”. “We have broccoli and carrots that’s healthy for you.” “Sweeties is not healthy though you get ill if you eat too many.” The group of children demonstrated a good understanding of healthy foods and healthy choices we could make instead. “The baby is sick we need to call the doctor they will help us. They might give us medicine to make you feel better.” “I can’t touch the medicine because it’s not safe.” “Mummy you need to give me it.” The girls are showing understanding of medicines and when we use them. The children said they baby got sick macaroni cheese she had made for her. “Now you’ve had your medicine it’s time to go to bed.” “I need my dummy it’s night time but it’s underneath the bed.” “I’ve got it for you baby” “Night Night mummy.” A couple of the children used the sand timer to indicate when bed time was over.

Today a group of children worked together using the different sized, shaped and coloured blocks to create a boat. “We’ve made a boat and look we have made a house for the dog.” “We made a boat to travel around to catch animals and eat them.” This led to discussion about different foods and products we get from different animals. “We can get wool from sheep and eggs from chickens.” “We also get milk from cows.”  “It’s a house boat that means we live in it.” This led to a discussion about other homes people have such as a caravan, house and flats.

Whilst inside a group of children explored the music area using a range of different materials to create sounds. They could confidently show understanding of loud, quieter, faster and slow when asked questions by the adult. They also used the radio and made it loud and quiet.

Friday 4th October

Today a group of children asked to create something different on the tuff tray. “Can we make something on the tuff tray just not a beach.” We used the computer to research ideas. The children spotted a few they liked and asked to create a dinosaur themed one. “Can we make a dinosaur one.” “I think that’s a good idea I like dinosaurs.” “We need grass, blocks and leaves.” We worked together to collect resources the children noticed there was no leaves and problem solved and used lavender instead. “The dinosaurs can eat it.”

Today, everyone joined in for a bookbug session where the story was all about going on holiday as children shared their plans for the October holidays.

Children created an obstacle course outside using the wooden blocks. Children put their ideas and plans together to come up with a great idea. Children were independent in taking turns, negotiating, team work and balancing.

Week Beginning 17th June 2024

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

 

Monday 17th June

Today has been a morning of outdoor fun with loose parts. Lucas and Isla worked together to create an obstacle course using loose parts. They took it in turns to show their peers how to do it. Gregor and Jovan showed good balancing skills to complete it.

Christian, Oran and Alex worked together using loose parts to create a model of a aeroplane that can transform into a submarine. This led to discussions about different modes of transport to go on holiday with. “I’m going to Italy and it will be very hot.” The discussion changed into different types of weather at home and abroad discussing different clothing you need in different temperatures.

Today Cameron and Lachlan worked together to build a crocodile out of blocks. They discussed how crocodiles are dangerous because they can snap and bite you with their sharp teeth. They communicated with each other to move blocks to suit each other.

Today a group of children asked for Danny Go on YouTube to dance along to different songs and different moves. They were able to discuss how their body was feeling after exercise and what we could do to feel less hot.

Tuesday 18th June

Today a group of children enjoyed exploring with the water. They noticed as it was raining the tarpaulin was filling with water and falling down the side. They discussed different ways they could try and catch it. “I have a good idea let’s use a cup”. They used cups to collect the water to see how many cups they could fill. “I filled one cup six times”.

Today the children are becoming more confident with their gross motor skills as they have been exploring the trees and climbing to where they feel comfortable. “My tummy doesn’t have butterflies yet so I can stay here.”

Today Charlotte helped create the fire in the forest for snack. “You need to put the little bits of food first to give it some air then you put the big wood after then you put some wool and some paper and then you scrape the match to make the fire.” “Mrs McKenzie helped me be safe because she told me all the things to keep safe.”

Wednesday 19th June

 

Today Alex, Leo, Chloe, Flynn and Eleanor worked together using the farm set to create a model of their own farm. “It use to be everywhere but we are now making it so neat” “we need to keep it neat so the animals don’t escape”. The group of children were able to discuss that food comes from animals. “You can get ham and pork from pigs and you get meat from cows. You also get milk from cows.” “We look after the animals by letting them out and making sure they look good.”

Today Elyn, Oran, Christian and Isla worked together to create a boat. The group of children pretended to look out for sharks. “Sharks are dangerous they can bite you”. They discussed how we could stay safe in a boat by using a life jacket so they don’t fall out the boat.

Today Lucas brought in his pet tortoise Uno into nursery. He shared interesting facts about tortoises and let his peers ask questions. All children engaged in listening to Lucas and asking him questions to further their knowledge on tortoise’s.

Thursday 20th June

 

Today has been a day of being creative both indoors and outdoors using loose parts, Junk modelling and blocks. Today Hubert made a spinner with a reusable sweet lid and loose parts. He then used his problem solving skills to add a cookie box and tube to make it spin further. “It spins better with the box.”

Today Jackson and Cameron worked together using the blocks of different shapes and sizes to create a model of a dinosaur house. “This is our dinosaur house, it keeps them safe.”

Today Timothy worked independently to match the letters on the picture to make the full word. “I’m looking for the letters that say pig.” Timothy enjoyed playing pass the word and independently completed a few words.

Friday 21st June

Today Cora and Sophie worked with their peers using the farm set to create a model of their own farm. “I know that there’s cows in the farm and the farmer feeds them.” “I also know cows have milk and feed babies with them.”


Today Alex and Christian were creating colourful patterns using the counting bears by placing them very carefully next to one another, sharing their ideas for how they want the pattern to look.

Reminders:

  • Forest is on Tuesday where we meet at Waterstone crook car park from 9:00-9:15. Can we also just make you aware that with the hot and humid weather that tics may be around in the forest area so encourage you to check your child after every forest session incase any have made their way home on your child!
  • Please remember to apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at nursery and we will reapply during the day if needed.
  • Please if your child takes part in play on pedals can you bring their helmet in on Wednesday.
  • Can we please remind parents and carers that when dropping off in the morning and using the car park to use the white spaces only as staff members who start at 9 are unable to park due to the staff spaces being taken.

With the changing  seasonal and varied weather conditions  ☔️❄️🥶, please remember to provide your child with welly boots, waterproof clothing, and at least a full change of clothes in your child’s bag (remember the…🧦 🧦🩲🩲 )

Week Beginning 27th May 2024

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.


Monday 27th May 

 

Today Gregor, Cameron, Archie and Jovan took turns with the swing ball set. They confidently hit the ball to each other by using their gross motor skills to move the bat to strike the ball back and forwards.

Today Eleanor, Christian, Alex and Isla worked together to create a model of a car using loose parts. They all shared their ideas on how to make the car ask confidently listened to each other. “We’re going to Pizza Hut in our cars”. This sparked discussion about different mode of transports we can use. “You can walk, use a bike or a scooter” “If you’re going on holiday you would get a plane because it’s over the ocean”.

Today a group of children began their Play on pedals session which was focused on Bike safety. There 4 main areas that we focused on were Helmet safety, correctly fitting helmets. Learning and recognising the different bike parts were and what they did. Saddle me up focused on picking up and mounting and is dismounting the bike safely. Play on pedals rules when on the bikes, and to listen to and follow the set of instructions given. And then we played a short game of frogs jump races and walk the plank focusing on balance whilst in movement.

Tuesday 28th May 

Today Hubert and Isla worked together to share ideas to create a den. Isla collected the sticks of different sizes “this one is longer so it will fit better” while Hubert built the den.

Today there was good balancing demonstrated in different ways. Elijah, Chloe and Sophie were demonstrating good balancing skills by holding on the the stick and bouncing on the log below. “Were bouncing over the town, Were over the town.” Lucas demonstrated good balancing skills and hand/eye coordination as he held on to the tree swing and spun round without falling off.

 

Today at the forest there was a lot of role play. “We are being silly monkeys” Alex, Leo and Oran were role playing silly monkeys. This lead to a group discussion about Zoo’s and personal experiences. They also discussed that monkeys eat bananas and bananas are healthy for you as it’s a fruit.

Wednesday 29th May

Today Jackson, Elyn, Odil, Lachlan and Charlotte can confidently eat socially with peers as they ate pizza wraps and discussed their favourite toppings on pizza. There was also a discussion about favourite fruits. “My favourite fruit is orange and mine is watermelon”.

Today Lucas, Gregor, Lachlan and Jackson created an obstacle course and took each others thoughts into consideration. Lucas noticed a big gap and problems solved to create a safer gap to jump. They all individually took turns without bumping into each other.

Today a group of children had their Play on pedals session which was focused on steering and control whilst moving with speeding and follow directions.

Thursday 30th May

Today Lachlan, Charlotte and Odil used different objects to do some one to one correspondence. They used the teddy bear family and matched them into colour. As well as coins. “Money is for buying stuff and food.”

Today there was a lot of mark making. Archie, Leo and Timothy were in the writing area. “I’m drawing a picture for my mummy” “I’m making a flag”. They boys had a discussion about different kinds of flags such as country flags and pirate ship flags. This lead to discussion about different modes of transport and how we get to different countries such as a plane and a boat. Today Robin enjoyed marking making using a highlighter. He asked for support to write Pokémon. He drew a picture of ash to put inside the envelope to take home.

Thank you to all who could make today’s peep session it was lovely to have you there! Today we focussed on the importance of encouragement ☺️ We hope to see you there again next week where we will be exploring talking and listening and taking part in some fun listening activities that you might have heard the children discussing before 🐦 📱 👂🏼

Friday 31st May

 

Today Oran, Christian, Isla, Sophie, Robin, Odil, Leo, Gregor and Cameron explored moon dough (cornflour and conditioner). There was a group of children trying to make shapes and others watching it melt onto the tray. The children discussed the texture of the moon dough which was “soft and sticky. It also feels funny”.

Working together Hubert and Timothy created a areoplane using loose parts. “We’re going on holiday to Florida”. This led to discussion about different modes of transport we could use to go on holiday with. As they continued playing they invited more peers to join in their play.

 

Today Lucas, Isla, Robin, Eleanor and Flynn enjoyed some time in the bottom garden. They enjoyed using their gross motor skills and turn taking to share shots on the see-saw. The group of children demonstrated good balancing skills.

Week Beginning 19th June 2023

This week learning is… Exploring, Being Curious, Literacy, Mathematics, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Creativity, Motor Skills, Turn Taking, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

 

Monday 19th June

Today Hamish, Blair and Murdo were being responsible citizens helping unblock the drain in the garden by using different tools. The boys discussed depth of the puddle using measurement language.

Today Daisy and Raine have been creative in the art area creating different pictures and models using different materials. The girls celebrated each other’s work by complimenting how nice it looked.

Today Finlay explored positional language as he discussed directions the car would move with each arrow he would press. Finlay discussed different technologies he has used similar to a remote control car.

 


Today Calvin enjoyed exploring outdoors as he chose to play with the ball shouting catch to his peers.


Today Orla, Jesse, Calvin, Raine, Aayla-May and Daisy chose to come for snack. They discussed what healthy options were on offer and had a discussion about Sanna’s party discussing personal experiences.

Tuesday 20th June

 

Today Hubert, Murdo and Lucy took turns on the rope swing using their gross motor skills to get the swing moving. They waited patiently after each shot and took it in turns to have a shot.


Orla used her imagination to create a nature book. She wrote words and drew pictures of different plants and animals she would see in the forest and ticked them off as she spotted them.


Today Raine and Lucy were being very helpful as they offered to help hand out snack. The girls took it in turns to take a cup of juice and a hotdog to their peers.


Today Lily, Jesse, Orla and Hubert took part in a treasure hunt and they went for a walk around the forest to see what excit

Wednesday 21st June

Today has been a day of using our imagination outside as we have been exploring loose parts and creativity. Today Maggie, Orla and Daisy used the loose parts and the story den to create a house and used the box as a cat bed as Orla role played a cat.

Continuing our imagination outside as we have been exploring loose parts and creativity. Jovan, Christian, Archie and Flynn used used loose parts as a magic wand, sword and shield. They also used the car to go on a mission.

Today outside Lucy, Raine, Lily and Lochlan have been exploring bugs in the mud kitchen and extended their learning outside by researching a bug scavenger hunt. They marked off what bugs they had spotted in and around the mud kitchen. This encouraged more children to join in.

Thursday 22nd June

Today has been a busy day outside exploring creativity skills. Victor and Lucy used loose parts to create a transient art picture exploring feelings and emotions. “I made a happy face because I’m happy today.”

Today outside Lochlan, Ruaridh and Murdo were exploring the water. They were experimenting to see how many cups it would take to fill the tube. The boys went on to create potions to have more super powers. “My super power is speed and strength.”

Today outside Sanna, Ben, Blair, Hamish, Orla, Victor and Lochlan used their numeracy and concentration skills to play the new spider game. The aim of the game is to catch as many numbers as they can and add them up at the end. The person with the most numbers won. They worked together to count the numbers out.

Friday 23rd June

Today Christian and Jovan were seen busy exploring the different scales, weights and natural loose parts and were heard using the correct language to describe the different sizes, what was heavy,light, big or small etc. They shared thoughts and ideas to further extend this play learning interest.


Today Orla and Flynn created pictures using different materials in the writing area. Flynn created pictures of a Pokémon and Orla drew rainbows and love hearts.

Today we say Happy Birthday to Murdo as he turns 5. We celebrated by singing happy birthday and had some cake.

Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens and hand sanitiser available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️

Reminders

  • Can all parents label items of  your child’s clothing.
  • Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
  • Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
  • Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
  • Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to play outside when it’s wet.
  • Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
  • If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
  • Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
  • Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.

Week Beginning 20th February 2023

This week learning is… Exploring, Being Curious, Literacy, Mathematics, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Creativity, Motor Skills, Turn Taking, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

Monday 20th February

Today Finlay and Arthur confidently negotiated with each other during their play. Finlay and Arthur built a house together a spoke to each other about design problems and how they are going to fix them. “We need to move this block here”. “We built a big our house and it looks so good” Finlay and Arthur expressed that they are good at building in the block area. Finlay and Arthur engaged in role play when in the house pretending they were lost and had to build their own house to keep them warm “we need blankets and pillows to make the seats cosy and in the house we can play and chat. We’re playing with my toys” “The sun is out today which means it’s day time at my house”. “We’ve finished building our house, come and see it” Finlay and Arthur were keen to share their work with others.

Today Orla confidently experiments mark making using a variety of materials. Orla independently used doodle kids on the iPad to create a picture of her skiing in Italy. “I was skiing on the mountain. I got hot chocolate and chips to keep me warm.”

Today Blair took some time to cut out and stick in some photos in his folder with Miss McKenzie he spoke about the best part of his trip to the Kelpies. “The park with the big slide and the hot chocolate with the melted marshmallows!” It sounds like Blair had a fun time!

Tuesday 21st February

Today at the forest the children had regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences by using their confidence skills to climb up the trees and draw creatively using paint and charcoal. Freya, Orla, Ben, Sanna, Blair, Finlay, Lochlan and Arthur used their feeling in their tummy to see how high they could climb.

Today at the forest the children had regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences Raine, Jesse, Orla and Lucy used the charcoal to create different images on the stairs as it would show up better.

 

Pancake day today the children enjoyed watching the pancakes getting made on the fire and enjoyed a lovely pancake with the choice of honey, jam or butter. We then headed back to the nursery to enjoy a special snack (Cupcake) for Eleanor’s birthday.

Wednesday 22nd February

Today Calvin has been exploring one of his new favourite nursery books “Tabby McTat” as Calvin says. Calvin is using his words to share different parts of the story as he flicks through the book with an adult.

Today Christian and Flynn were exploring the Argos catalogue in the home corner discussing their likes and dislikes of toys they spotted.

Today Archie and Ruaridh were exploring the art area using different materials to create object and images to share with their peers. The boys created a space helmet.

Today Aayla-May and Lily were exploring outside they worked together to create an obstacle course that would help them get over the big puddle.

Thursday 23rd February

This morning Hubert and Victor expressed that the birds need some food and decided they wanted to make their own bird feeders. They listened well to the instructions, and followed the steps well. They then showed their writing skills to write their name on the feeder they had made.

Maggie independently completed the jigsaw of the rocket ship which led to a discussion about numbers and space.

Today Daisy has been exploring Chatter Kid on the iPad and has created a clip of the worry monster and said the worry monster takes all her worried away from the monsters. Daisy can confidently show and talk about feelings. Hamish has also been exploring Chatter Kid on the iPad and has created a clip of the snack table. Hamish added stickers to make his clip “more funny”. Hamish said “I like the snack table” “My favourite snack is cheese and crackers”.

Friday 24th February

Today Freya and Orla were discussing their personal experiences while looking at Maisy goes to the library story book. “I’ve been to the library I borrowed The Wizard and The Princess but my favourite story is The Gruffalo”. “I’ve been to the library too Orla” ”My favourite story is The Gruffalo too”. The girls asked questions about the story including “What does the blurb say? Can you read us it?”. During the story being read to the girls they began to predict what Maisy was doing when all of her friends were playing a game. Both Freya and Orla suggested Maisy would be reading her book somewhere quietly and she was.

Today Murdo enjoyed a quiet time under the bird hideout waiting to see if any birds would come to the feeders. He enjoyed looking at the book of birds, and was able to discuss birds that he has seen. That’s a sea gull, it makes a loud noise.

Jovan has been exploring ChatterKid on the iPad and has created a clip of the playdough table. Jovan added stickers to make his clip. Jovan expressed his love for his mummy.

Today  Orla, Freya, Sanna, Maggie, and Daisy have been giving the nursery a preview of their dance show next Saturday by dancing along to music they have been practicing! There were able to keep the beat and sing along to the music and showed good memory skills as they remembered all the moves! Well done girls you will do great at the show.
