Week Beginning 30th June

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.

Monday 30th June

Today the children enjoyed a lot of outdoor play. Jude made his own adjustments to the garden as he tried to put up a branch on the fence. “This goes here, I need nails” 🪵. Joni demonstrated good control on the pedal bike as she cycled the length of the garden without support 🚲 . Emily-Rose and Fraser settled well into nursery and have been discussing their upcoming birthday party 🥳 Gregor started his own game using the hoop outside. He started by passing it to an adult and then decided to see how far he could roll it from one end of the garden 🪴 Zac and Jude have been hard at work today on the digger and dumper as they moved sand confidently around in the sand pit 🪏 “We are making a train bed” Leo, Brodie and Lachlan used the cushions and blankets outside to create a sleeping train to relax in 🚂

Tuesday 1st July

Today Sehrish, Joni and Elyn enjoyed a lovely snack together. Joni and Elyn had ham on their plates and Sehrish identified she couldn’t have it due to her religion. Joni discussed how she wasn’t allergic to anything and could have everything and Elyn identified she is allergic to make up but that’s not something I eat. The girls could confidently discuss their likes and dislikes and dietary requirements at the snack table. 🧀

Today outside Jackson, Leo, Brodie, Lachlan, Cammy, Reuben, Zac and Jude enjoyed exploring and investigating with water in the mud kitchen. They used paint brushes, bowls and loose parts to create a cleaning potion and another potion that makes you strong. They discussed what they would need in a strong potion and they said “we need this and this in it.” The boys worked together and communicated with each other to use the correct ingredients. 🧪

Today all of the children took part in our nursery leavers assembly. This gave the children leaving to move onto Primary 1 time to celebrate. The children confidently sang songs in-front of their families that they have been practicing at nursery. All children received a certificate and gift for their year at Newport Nursery and enjoyed some strawberries and cream afterwards. 👩‍🎓

Wednesday 2nd July

For today’s fun the children enjoyed some slime time. They discussed the smell, texture and how it gets longer when held up. Some explored what would happen if they squeezed, pulled or squashed it into the table. Some suggested ways to remove the slime from their hands by rubbing them together.

Today inside Innes, Lachlan, Euan, Luke, Jude, Zac, Florence, Joni, Flora, Jackson and Sehrish followed simple movements from Danny go after asking for ice and fire. They confidently watched their space and used their spacial awareness to be mindful of their peers dancing too.

Today the children enjoyed investigating the props to capture individual and group pictures with our summer Photo Booth.

Thursday 3rd July

Today all of our children enjoyed a nice teddy bear picnic with their buddies. They enjoyed a biscuit and juice together as well as participating in a treasure hunt the buddies had created.

Today Florence and Rosie got creative in the art area and created different items for their teddy bears. Rosie created a tie for her bear and Florence created collars

.

Today Cammy, Innes and Leo were being responsible citizens as they independently tidied up the block area when they had finished playing.

Again we wanted to express our sincere gratitude for the thoughtful gifts. Your generosity is truly appreciated and reflects the wonderful support we receive from you all. It has been an absolute pleasure to have your children in our care. Watching them grow, learn and explore has been a rewarding experience for us all. We will cherish the moments and memories we’ve shared and are grateful for the opportunity to be part of their early development. Thank you once again for your kindness and support. We wish you all the best into Primary 1 and for the children who are staying in nursery another year we look forward to welcoming you back after the holidays. We hope you all have a well deserved holiday.☀️ Miss Nelson 🫶🏼
