Week beginning 2nd December

Hello everyone, we hope you have had a great week, here is a look at what we have been up to this week….

Flora made her very own snowman in the sand tray. Floral used the loose parts to add features to her snowman for arms and mark making buttons, eyes and a nose.

The children had a great time in the garden for our forest session yesterday. We explored a range of movement skills using loose parts. Luke used a stick and created his own drum using a boat to tap on.

Robin and Cammy were experimenting with some ice and how it was melting. Cammy said “I’m changing this into water”.

A group of children used clay to create a range of different models and structures. The children inspired one another through their imaginative use of loose parts. The children then made their own signs to go with the models to show what they had made.

A group of children used the musical instruments to play along to a range of Christmas songs that we were singing. They were working on keeping the beat and a rhythm.

A small group made their own motorhome using loose parts outside after asking questions to find out more. The boys shared the resources well and shared their ideas between one another.

A group of children took part in an intentional promotion which introduced matching coins, making amounts and identifying coins. We did this in preparation for buying and selling and exploring money when selling our enterprise project.

Children have been role playing being the ladies in the nursery as they plan and take part in a gym session. They used clip board and pencils to write down their ideas and used resources in the garden to make a gym session plan.

Children have been using the blocks to explore measuring in different ways. We tried using tape measures first and then used our hands to count out home many hands it took to get from top to bottoms.

Children have started to sell their Christmas enterprise projects and are very excited to share these with families. We will have these on sale up until the end of term to try and raise money for resources chosen by the children.

Reminders:

  • can we remind parents in the morning that the white spaces are for parents to park in and not the yellow ones as these are for staff members who may not start until 9:00am when children are arriving and need to park.
  • we will have our enterprise projects on sale at drop off and pick up.
  • Bookbug will be on Thursday just after drop off in the huts which will be festive themed.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week! 😄
