Week Beginning 9th September 2024

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

 

Monday 9th September

 

Today a group of children asked to swap the doctors kit for the firefighter box. This has been an interest of the children’s. The children enjoyed the fire station and enjoyed role playing firefighters today as they used the dressing up outfits 👨‍🚒

 

Today the children had a really good lunch experience today and have been discussing their favourite school lunches and items in their lunch boxes.

Today a group of children enjoyed playing in the sand and used problem solving skills and team work to create a sandcastle.

Tuesday 10th September

Today a group of children had a great time laughing together as they built a tower using the crates outside and climbed to the top, helping one another keep steady.

Today a group of children were playing a game of catch the bean bag on the bat together. They confidently took turns and let everyone have equal shots.

Today most children took part in a Kodaly session with Miss Nelson where they were learning how to keep the rhythm and beat along with songs and rhymes.

 

Wednesday 11th September

Today a group of children engaged in imaginative play together relating to personal experiences 🚙 They pretended to be in the car driving to “pops” house. They are walking around the garden holding hands together 🥹.

Today a group of children were identifying numbers missing between 0-15. They also identified numbers before and after the number they were given. Some children did this independently as other required a little bit of support.

Today a group helped mount their feeling pictures to go on the wall in the school. They matched the name on the picture to the name on the speech bubble. They done this by identifying and matching letters of their peers names.

Thursday 12th September

Today all children had a great time in the garden this afternoon as they explored different areas such as the see saw, climbing trees, in the mud kitchen, loose parts and natural resources. It was lovely and sunny and the children shared their feedback. “This is so much fun” “look at me this is funny” “I like this garden” ☀️

Today some of the children have independently created different models. “Look at my ship I built, it’s my boat ship and it’s going up to the sky!” A ship was made using the loose parts outside and was very eager to show it off 😄 ⛴️

I’m at 8 just now and I need to get to 10….thats 2 more to go!” A couple of individual children could confidently write out numbers 1-10 and recognised that if they were at 8 there was 2 numbers to write down to get to 10.


Friday 13th September

Today has been a day of exploring technology. Today a group of children explored the smart board and used the different colour and sizes of pens to create pictures. They also used the rubber to erase parts of their drawings.

Today a group of children have been working on their mouse control as they have been playing underwater counting on the computer. This got the children thinking numerically and matching the quantity or the number.


Today a group of children have been exploring features on the IPad through games. They liked doodle kids the best where they could choose different colours, patterns and shapes to create an image with. They also enjoyed playing feed the monkey by matching the number of fruit to the image shown.


Reminders:

  • Forest is on Tuesday where we meet at Waterstone crook car park from 9:00-9:15. Can we also just make you aware that with the hot and humid weather that tics may be around in the forest area so encourage you to check your child after every forest session incase any have made their way home on your child!
  • Please remember to apply sun cream to your child before they arrive at nursery and we will reapply during the day if needed.
  • Can we please remind parents and carers that when dropping off in the morning and using the car park to use the white spaces only as staff members who start at 9 are unable to park due to the staff spaces being taken.

With the changing  seasonal and varied weather conditions  ☔️❄️🥶, please remember to provide your child with welly boots, waterproof clothing, and at least a full change of clothes in your child’s bag (remember the…🧦 🧦🩲🩲 )

Loose Parts

We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃
