Hello everyone, we hope you all have had a great holiday! Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..
This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.
Monday 9th March
Today inside a group of children have enjoyed exploring the sand pit and worked together to build sand castles using the scoop and buckets. 🏝️
Today inside individual children have been using digital technology responsibly as they enjoyed being creative. They were all able to independently change the colour of the pen to make their drawing more colourful. 🌈
Today inside a group of children have been working together using good communication skills to solve problems and design a rocket with a swimming pool using trial and error. Great team work 🚀
Tuesday 10th March
Today inside a group of children enjoyed being creative in the art area. We noticed the pictures on the wall related to winter and discussed what season was next. We discussed baby animals and flowers and created lovely blossom tree pictures. 🌸
Today a group of children enjoyed some snack. They asked for some pasta and cheese. They were able to discuss healthy snacks to have along with pasta and they chose oranges and apples. 🍏
Today a group of children enjoyed being creative as they made up their own stories along the way. A group of children were participating in role play activities in the home corner. 🧑🧑🧒🧒
Wednesday 11th March
Today inside some children enjoyed discovering that the fish they were playing with in the water were sinking. “Look they’re sinking.” They independently discovered they sunk and shared their findings. 🐠
Today inside a group of children were interested in story books. They confidently picked up a book from the story corner and enjoyed looking at the pictures. They pointed out their favourite cats in the story book. 📖
Today inside a group of children have enjoyed experimenting with sound and rhythm. They were able to programme the piano to play a song and they used other instruments to play along too. 🎹
Thursday 12th March
Today inside one child enjoyed riding on the horse to go to the desert. They also enjoyed looking in the mirror. “Look I was looking in the mirror too.” 🐎
Today inside a group of children explored the dolls house. They used the furniture and placed it appropriately in the house using the people to roll play families. 🧑🧑🧒🧒

Today inside all children wanted to take part in an arts and crafts activity. All children have been busy making special cards for their mummies 🤫. The children individually told Miss Nelson what they loved about their mummies and helped write cards personalised to their own mums. Happy Mother’s Day to all our amazing mummies when it comes. 🥰
Friday 13th March
Through creative play a group of children have beginning to explore different materials and share their findings. They enjoyed investigating in the water tray and discovered objects that float and sink. They showed their understanding of this by sharing their findings with Miss Nelson. They discovered that the scoop, the pipette and bucket floated and the rock, shell and dolphin sunk. 💦
This afternoon a group of children were observed investigating the weaving area using up, down and through the hole movements with the language to describe these actions too.
Today a group of children enjoyed a trip down to the bottom garden. To look for mini beasts and bugs. They discussed habitats and movements of the insects.

- Trip to the science centre (17th March 2026)
- PEEP will be next week (20th March 2026)
- Red Nose Day please wear red where you can £1 donations can also be made. (20th March 2026)
Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you ask a members of the team to help sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️
Loose Parts.
We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃
Here is some of the items we are looking for:
Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, wood, drainpipes any old garden furniture such as chairs, tables or parasols, etc, anything you think might be of used in nursery.
Reminders
- Can all parents label items of your child’s clothing.
- Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
- Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
- Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
- If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
- Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for all the weather conditions that may arise.
- Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
- Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to enable play outside when it’s wet.
- Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
