Hello everyone, we hope you all have had a great week! Here is a quick look at what we have been up to in nursery…..
This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.
Monday 1st December
Today inside a group of children came into nursery and noticed the Christmas tree with the decorations sat next to it. The group of children took it in turns to put baubles and tinsel on the tree to make it look nice. They all discussed Christmas experiences they have at home. 🎄
Today in the home corner a group of children took on appropriate roles during their role play as they pretending it was going to be Christmas Day. The group of children pretended to sleep before Santa came with presents on Christmas morning. 🎅
Today a group of children worked together in the block area by sharing their ideas and selected appropriate solutions when building their model of a dinosaur McDonald’s. The group of children used different sized blocks and used loose parts to enhance their model. 🦖🍟
Tuesday 2nd December
Today inside all children participated in an intentional promotion by creating fireplaces to create a cosy winter wall in our art area. They used different coloured paint and dabbed the brush to create different textures and will continue to paint some lights on the fireplace. 🔥🕯️
Yesterday, we started to open our advent calendar where the children got to find and open number 1. Behind the door was a mouse dressed like Santa. They all recognised that today’s door would be number 2 and found a hedgehog behind the door.🐭
Today, a group of children have started creating our Christmas enterprise projects. We have made gift bags and gift tags for selling as part of the project. Everything will be on sale as of next week for the nursery and school community.🎄
Wednesday 3rd December
Today inside the children asked for music on to use up excess energy in the room this afternoon after lunch. The group of children participated in a dance experience after requesting Christmas songs. They sequenced their bodies in a range of movements and demonstrated teamwork by listening to each other while they followed each other’s lead. 💃
Today outside all children participated in a forest experience down in the bottom garden. The children confidently confirmed all of the rules to keep us safe. They used their communication skills, motor skills and risk assessing skills in the bottom garden as they worked together and independently climbed trees. 🌳
Today a group of children were pretending to be different animals. We were cats and dinosaurs they discussed how a dinosaur would eat meat so a cat would definitely be scared. They also discussed that cats would live inside and outside and like lots of cuddles. Whereas dinosaurs would not like cuddles as they are “ fierce and dangerous”. 🦕 🐈⬛
Thursday 4th December
Today inside a group of children enjoyed looking at the smyths toy superstore catalog. They were pointing out lots of different toys they already have and what they would like from Santa. 🎁
Today a group of children helped make reindeer food for our nursery enterprise. We will be selling these to families and school pupils over the next coming weeks. 🦌
Today in the art area a child independently worked in the art area using different colours of paints and loose parts to create a model of a smartie machine. 🍬
Today a child has brought in a head torch to nursery where they have given it to peer to try out. They is showed their peer how it’s worn and the different settings.To extend their learning with the torch they decided to get all of our resources that had been pushed under the shed. They helped each other by getting some sticks to reach the items and swept the items up to put in the bucket for safe keeping .🔦
Friday 5th December
Today a group of children were inspired by the Dear Santa book and used the Christmas wish list to write their letter to Santa at the writing table. They mark makes to express what they were wishing for. ✉️
Through everyday activities today a group of children confidently made choices about who they are going to play with and how they are going to use resources. They confidently discussed that they were making a play park and discussed what each resource was getting used for they used the planks as a slide because things could slide down them. They used the big whisk as a roundabout because it could spin in the sand, confidently sharing their reasoning for each item. 🛝
Today a group of children used their gross motor skills as they followed simple instructions and sequences. They used the space creatively and playfully and made sure there was enough room for for them all to dance without bumping into each other. 🕺
Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you ask a members of the team to help sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️
Loose Parts.
We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃
Here is some of the items we are looking for:
Conkers, stones, shells, tea cups, sticks, picture frames, plates, wood, drainpipes any old garden furniture such as chairs, tables or parasols, etc, anything you think might be of used in nursery.
Reminders
- Can all parents label items of your child’s clothing.
- Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
- Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
- Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
- If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
- Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for all the weather conditions that may arise.
- Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
- Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to enable play outside when it’s wet.
- Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
- Reminder that next week is PEEP and we look forward to seeing you all there.
