Week Beginning 12th May 2025

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.

Monday 12th May

Today Cammy, Leo and Robin enjoyed role playing with the farm “We’re making a real farm.” “Let’s make a piggy one.” “Where’s the ducks they need to go here.” “Oh wait there’s no water.” Cammy used his initiative to use his blue T-shirt as water. “Do you know horses can jump over fences.” “Well we could use this stable instead.” The boys worked creatively together and spoke to each other to solve solutions and design problems to make the farm suitable for all the animals. They used their knowledge to ensure the animals had the correct things to keep them safe.

Today Innes, Flora, Rosie and Florence were practicing bridges. “You need to lift your head up a bit more so it makes you stronger.” Rosie was giving some advice on how to  keep a bridge for longer as she recalled her knowledge from gymnastics. Before practicing bridges the group of children did some stretches. “We need to stretch because it helps you when you exercise.”

Today outside Joni drew a picture starting off with a sun and diamonds. Joni moved on to drawing a star and independently recognised her achievements by saying. “Look I’ve drawn a proper star for the very first time.” Great work Joni ⭐

Tuesday 13th May

Today Zac, Jude, Thomas, Innes, Luke and Florence worked together to be responsible citizens as they communicated well together to put all the game pieces in the correct boxes.

Today Joni, Sehrish and Reuben used lots of different loose parts and tools in the home corner to expand their role play experience.

Today Lachlan, Elyn and Jackson were in the art area exploring the different colours. They mixed colours independently to create their lovely art pieces.

Wednesday 13th May

Today inside Jude was working with a peer to put away the dishes from the dishwasher after it finished its cycle.

Robin has created his own high tech mobile phone! Using his memory to think about what apps mummy has on her phone, Robin created a range of different buttons and spoke an adult through what the function of each one was. “This one is your steps, this is the shopping app, the 5 is the time because I know how to draw 5. This is to put the volume up and down and that one is the music button. You can spell with it too! There’s a mouse where I can find my pet if I lose it 🐭 I have a map if I don’t know where I am. The train tells you when you are late and need to go for your train. There’s a games button and you can phone people with this one and to turn it off, you can also see pictures you take. There’s an airplane to see when I’m going on holiday” Amazing work Robin! 📱

Today Jackson, Lachlan, and Emily-Rose enjoyed playing a game they created where someone has to carry a box and the others have to throw a sun hat inside whilst it’s moving ☀️.

Thursday 15th May

Today outside Euan used the tiger feet’s and said “look I’m a tiger.” Euan role played being a tiger while managing to balance on the tiger feet.

Today inside Annie, Jackson and Reuben used their communication skills to work together to decorate a box using the paints and crafts 🎨.

Today inside Gregor used his problem solving skills to put together a tricky puzzle, Gregor said he wanted to do it all by himself 🧩.

Today outside Brodie enjoyed passing the football back and forwards with the adults and peers. He was able to what a goal keeper does “I need to try not let people from the other team score.”

Friday 16th May

Today outside George enjoyed playing in the car. He identified there was no steering wheel so used his creativity and used one from our loose parts. George was able to discuss the steering wheel was from a real life car and he was going on an adventure to “the animal centre it’s like the zoo. But a different type of zoo.”

Today outside Robin and Leo were exploring forces through the cardboard tubes. They placed some of the farm animals down the tube and discovered they weren’t coming out of the bottom. After a lot of problem solving and discussing the boys decided to try something smaller and uncovered that the smaller objects worked better and went further out of the bottom.

Today outside Jackson, Lachlan and Euan used our new cardboard tubes to role play with. “We’re filmers.” “We’re filming people to put on the telly.” “Nee-naw nee-naw.” Euan pretended to be a fire engine as there was a big fire in the jungle with lots of trees. The boys said it was filmed to let everyone watching the telly know there was a fire.
