Week Beginning 27th January 2025

This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.

Thomas, Emily-rose and Fraser were using the puppet theatre to explore making different facial expressions and puppets to role play with. “Good teamwork 👍” says Thomas to his peers as they set up the puppets.

Robin explored the iPad using Sumdog in nursery for the first time this week, Robin was able to use the iPad with care and used new and known strategies for working out number problems ➕➖🟰.

This week we had our forest experience in the bottom garden. A group of children could confidently talk about keeping safe in the garden and to keep tools down. They demonstrated this by digging in our digging area being respectful of others.

They also enjoyed watching the fire and described what they seen. “The fire is glowing” “Its red that means it’s hot”. The children watched as their snack was made on the fire. The children enjoyed the choice of a hotdog or crumpet.

This week the children independently used loose parts to create their own boat as they noticed the one in the garden was too wet and was slippery. The children used their initiative, imagination and team work to create a boat and different models with the loose parts.

The children have also been risk assessing for themselves as they describe how they have been feeling while exploring their gross motor skills while climbing the trees. “My tummy feels good.”

This continuing our interest in birds, Rosie and  Flora used their creative skills to make their own birds using a range of materials. They discussed the shapes that occur naturally in the environment such as a triangle for the beak. They demonstrated problems skills on what the best solution to help things stick, whilst sharing ideas and celebrating each other achievements.

This week some of the children tried some egg noodles with pepper with the choice of curry sauce. This gave the children the opportunity to try unfamiliar foods from different countries. We have a group discussion about Chinese new year and that noodles is popular in china hence why we had it for snack.

This week the boys showed good teamwork and how to be kind, respectful and responsible citizens as they choose to help each other put the blocks back where they belong independently even though they weren’t playing there.

Hello everyone! 👋 Thank you for all who could make it to our Peep session this week all about “Making the most of routines”. We spoke about bedtime routines and what works for all our families. I have attached all of the information from this session on see-saw and the activity we took part in together which was making a bed for a toy 🐻 There are also some links to website that give information and ideas for sleep routines if you are needing any ideas! Our next session will be on Thursday 20th February.

Following on from a discussion down in the bottom garden about bird watching. We arranged with Rory who has lots of knowledge about all the birds in and around the school grounds to take some of the children out to spot what they could see. They used clipboards and charts to record what birds they found and others used binoculars to find them. They listened well to the information given and showed consideration towards the birds to stay quiet as not to frighten them. We will do more of these to allow all to experience and we will gather the information to display on a chart, and to send the numbers through on the Big bird watch too.

Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens and hand sanitiser available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️
