This week learning is… creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, Predicting, Being Curious, Sharing, Self-Esteem, Technology, Outdoor Learning and Problem Solving.
Monday 20th January
Today Leo, Cammy and Brodie were in the story corner talking about different animals. They were discussing different snakes they were talking about a python and anaconda and reckoned the anaconda would be stronger. This led to the boys asking to research snakes. They then led their learning by creating a book about the worlds strongest snakes.
Today Joni, Zac, Florence, Sehrish and Thomas took out the play mat. They had discussions about the different shops and landmarks they seen on it. They all noticed the park and spoke about personal experiences they had and told each other their favourite activity to do. “My favourite is the swings and mine is the seesaw.”
Today Elyn, Flora and Rosie role played doctors. “I’m making cakes to make them feel better.” “I’m putting a bandage on I’ve hurt my arm.” “Me too my leg is sore.” They enhanced their learning by asking for the doctors box. This led to discussion about how doctors help us in the community and in hospitals and different illnesses. “I’ve had tonsillitis before.” “I’ve had a sore tummy and got medicine.” They were able to discuss when it is safe to touch and use medication.
Today Lachlan and Jackson played the recycling game. This led to a peer discussion about what recycling is, how we recycle and what we recycle. “I have a paper bin at home and I put all you paper in there.”
Tuesday 21st January
This Jude, Sehrish, Elyn and Rosie were busy helping to bake cupcakes for Rosie’s birthday today. Rosie decided she wanted cupcakes instead of a normal round cake, and then choose what type of icing to have on the top. She selected the runny white one . Throughout the baking activity we discussed the different stages to make the cake, from preparation of equipment through to heating up the oven. They used skills to weigh using digital scales, recognising the difference from other scales. They used skills to mix, beat eggs and to divide into equal amounts into the cupcakes. They recognised by taking 1 large whole amount into making 24 smaller amounts.
Today Luke and Florence were using a range of resources as they play a game of “floor is lava” where they can stand on everything except the floor.
Today Leo and Robin built sonic a gem castle to live in in the block area today with their peers.
Wednesday 22nd January
Today we celebrated Gregor’s 4th birthday by making cakes and singing Gregor his happy birthday song. Happy birthday Gregor!😀
“Everything is so icy today” Cammy is used the roller on different textured surfaces today to try and melt the ice 🧊
Thursday 23rd January
Today Fraser, Reuben and Annie demonstrated how to care for the animals in our environment by helping make bird seed balls for them to eat. They all demonstrated simple food techniques as they mixed the mixture together to create the balls.
Today Rosie, Euan and Innes demonstrated how to care for the animals in our environment by placing our bird seed balls in the garden for our birds to eat. They were able to discuss how to care for birds and different animals in the environment.
Friday 24th January
Due to severe weather warning today please look out on seesaw for activities if you would like to take part in them.

Our Cosy Time Library 📚 This will be available to families at drop off and pick up time every day for you and your child to choose a book to take home to read 🏡There is no time limit on our library books we would just ask that you sign the book with your child’s name, the title of the book they have taken, the date it was taken and when it was returned ✍️There will be pens and hand sanitiser available for you to sign the books in and out. If your child has any special requests for a certain book please ask a member of staff or send a message on seesaw and we can help you 😃There will be a folder with your child’s name for them to put the book in for its journey to home and back 📁A tray will be available for you to put in your returned books so we can quarantine and clean them before putting them on display again, if you have any questions, any member of staff would be happy to help ☺️
Reminders
- Can all parents label items of your child’s clothing.
- Can all parents put in at least one full change of clothing for water play and accidents.
- Can all parents if your child has a packed lunch can we please ensure grapes and big fruits are cut to minimise the risk of choking.🍇
- Can we remind all parents\carers to park in a white space only as the yellow spaces are for staff only.
- Can all parents ensure your child has a set of waterproofs and wellies to play outside when it’s wet.
- Our nursery blog is sent out every week on a Friday afternoon.
- If your child is going to be picked up by someone else, please let the ladies know or the office so we are aware.
- Can we ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
- Can we ensure when you are leaving the nursery that the gate is locked.
- There is learning at home sheets available in the nursery to share your child’s learning and experiences you do at home.

Loose Parts
We are always in need of replenishing our loose parts in nursery. If you are out and about on walks, or are planning to recycle items, can we ask that you think of us first please 😃
