Newport Primary School was built in the 1970s. It is situated in extensive grounds on the edge of Newport-on-Tay. It is a co-educational and non denominational school. The school building has 8 classrooms, a central hall area and office accommodation. There is also a 2 classroom hut situated in the playground. A nursery class is accommodated within the school building. In the playground there is a basketball court and seating. On the grassed area there is an area which can be utilised as a football pitch and there is also a substantial amount of play equipment.
Our aim at Newport is to provide a happy and safe environment where all pupils can reach their full potential. We value partnership with parents/carers and the local community. We are always pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss any aspects of our school.
This session we have 7 classes and a nursery class. Newport has 1 school support assistant and 4 pupil support assistants. The support for learning teacher works 2.5 days per week supporting staff with a wide variety of pupil needs.
Newport has an active Parent Council and works well with the school offering support where and when required.
The school roll stands at 220 which includes the nursery children. The school day commences at 8.55am and ends at 3pm. The nursery session is from 9.00am-3.00pm.
