Youth Music Initiative (YMI) aims to create access to high quality music making opportunities for young people, offer young people the chance to achieve their potential in or through music making, and support the development of the youth music sector for the benefit of young people. Fife YMI offers a variety of music projects delivered by highly skilled Fife Music Instructors and external music partnerships with respected local and national providers.

Newport Primary have been allocated a cello teacher who teaches select pupils from P5-P7.

As part of the Fife Music initiative Primary 5 pupils are taught drumming weekly by Mr Stuart Foggo.

We have also purchased ukuleles and are lucky enough to have a few teachers trained to teach this during class time. It is hoped that through time many more pupils will get the opportunity to learn to play this instrument.
