Leadership at Newcastle Primary School

At Newcastle Primary School, we believe every child can be a leader. We create opportunities for pupils to take on meaningful responsibilities within our school community, helping them develop the confidence, skills, and attitudes that will support them throughout their lives and future workplaces.

Class Leadership Roles

Each stage takes on a specific leadership focus:

• P1/2 – Healthy Habits Leaders
• P3/4 – Sensory Circuits Champions
• P4/5 – Library Leaders and Breakfast Buddies
• P6/7 – Meta Skills Leaders

Throughout the year, classes will share their leadership learning and achievements during school assemblies.

Whole‑School Leadership Opportunities

In addition to class roles, pupils can apply for wider leadership positions across the school:

• House Captains – Welcome visitors, lead their house teams, and act as positive role models for all pupils.
• Pupil Council – Promote the values of a Rights Respecting School and represent the views of the wider pupil community.
• School Travel Plan Group – Gather information on how pupils travel to school and help promote safe travel around the school grounds.
• Digital Leaders – Support pupils and staff in using technology effectively and help ensure everyone can access digital tools for learning.
