We are so pleased to be back and are all looking forward to a fantastic year in P4\/5.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what we have planned for Block 1:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Class Charter:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our school values are SAFE, READY RESPECTFUL so our class charter is linked to them. It is also linked to our Rights Respecting School Charter. We discuss and choose actions for each value and each week we will focus on a different one. When we achieve the weekly action, we are awarded a place on our recognition board and can then be considered for Hot Chocolate Friday.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our topics this block are very much STEM based:<\/p>\n<p>Rivers &#8211; We will be learning all about what a river is, how they begin and end and what they provide. We will also be identifying rivers on maps. We will be working in groups to design and create our own river models.<\/p>\n<p>Energy \u2013 We will be investigating different types of energy<\/p>\n<p>Space \u2013 We will be finding out about the solar system<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Numeracy &amp; Maths:<\/p>\n<p>This block we are learning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Place value up to millions<\/li>\n<li>Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division with carrying and exchange<\/li>\n<li>2d and 3d shape<\/li>\n<li>Angles<\/li>\n<li>Symmetry<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates and compass points<\/li>\n<li>Time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Literacy:<\/p>\n<p>Our class novel this Block is \u201cJourney to the River Sea\u201d by Eva Ibbotson. It is about the magical adventures of a girl on the Amazon River.<\/p>\n<p>We will also have group readers which we will take home each week to read.<\/p>\n<p>In writing we will be creating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>imaginative stories<\/li>\n<li>posters<\/li>\n<li>fact files<\/li>\n<li>sets of instructions<\/li>\n<li>a variety of poems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In talking and listening we are focusing on listening skills, presentation skills and taking part in debates.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HWB: RSHP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This block we will be covering the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Friends and Friendship<\/li>\n<li>My Body<\/li>\n<li>A Fair and Equal Life for Boys and Girls<\/li>\n<li>My Senses<\/li>\n<li>How human life begins, pregnancy and birth (P4)<\/li>\n<li>PE:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tuesday: indoor PE (fitness, team games, basketball, netball, gymnastics)<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: outdoor PE (games, the mile, trim trail, fitness)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Homework:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our homework will consist of spelling and reading.<\/p>\n<p>The children will write the task into the homework jotter each week.<\/p>\n<p>This will be sent out on a Friday and should be returned on a Wednesday.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>P4\/5 Events: More information to come<\/li>\n<li>We are hoping to visit Letham Glen to look at the river and also perhaps visit the mouth of the River Leven down by the swimming pool.<\/li>\n<li>P4 children will take part in the Harvest Service on Thursday 8<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking forward to a super successful start to our P4\/5 year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Block One (August &#8211; December 2026) Hi everyone and welcome to the P4\/5 school page.
