Block Three (April – July 2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have come to our final term in P3\/4. There is lots to look forward to this term!<\/p>\n

We are continuing to demonstrate our school values and the responsibilities we have in the classroom, school and wider community. Here\u2019s what we have planned for the block\u2026<\/p>\n

Topic:<\/p>\n

Our topic this term is Africa and there are lots of things we want to learn about. We are going to focus on a different country in Africa each week working on skills across the curriculum from subjects such as art, drama, health and wellbeing and ICT.<\/p>\n

Maths and Numeracy:<\/p>\n

This block, we will be finishing time and moving onto data handling, expressions, patterns and relationships.<\/p>\n

We will also be continuing to revise all of our previous learning in numeracy each week.<\/p>\n

Literacy:<\/p>\n

Our current class novel is \u201cThe Lighthouse at the World\u2019s End\u201d by Amy Sparkes. We enjoy listening to this after break each day and will be using it to complete the literacy circle jobs \u2013 summariser, predictor, question master, illustrator and word wizard.<\/p>\n

In writing, we will be looking at poetry and how to write persuasive texts. We will also have regular spelling and grammar lessons which can help with our writing too.<\/p>\n

We have reading groups every week and visit the library so we can choose a book to read for enjoyment.<\/p>\n

Health and Wellbeing<\/p>\n

This term we are learning about \u201cSimilarity, Diversity and Respect\u201d. More information on the specifics of these lessons can be found on the RSHP website –\u00a0https:\/\/rshp.scot\/first-level\/<\/a><\/p>\n

In P.E. we will be working towards Sports Day (19th\u00a0May) by working on our fitness and sportsmanship. We will also have to work as a team during rounders. Our P.E. day is a Monday so children can come in P.E. kit on this day. This should not include football strips or crop tops.<\/p>\n

Homework<\/p>\n

Reading homework will be handed out on a Friday and is due back the following Wednesday. Please ensure this is back in by the Wednesday to give us a chance to complete the reading record before handing it back out.<\/p>\n

Once you have read with your child at home and practised their tricky words (if applicable), please sign their reading record under \u201cread at\u2026\u201d.<\/p>\n
