We are looking forward to another great term in Primary 3.<\/p>\n<p>Our gym day is a Thursday so please come in gym kit!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our topic this term is Africa. We are going to be focusing on a different country in Africa each week and we will be incorporating lots of learning through this. This will include Social Studies, Technologies, Expressive Arts, Literacy and Numeracy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Numeracy and Maths<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This block we will be focusing on: Data Handling, expressions, patterns and relationships We will also continue to do board sums weekly to revise all that we have learnt in numeracy and continue to build on our number skills.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Literacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our class novel is The Tower at the end of Time by Amy Sparkes. We spend time reading this every day after break. We will also be using Literacy circles to work on our understanding of texts as well as doing spelling and handwriting weekly.<\/p>\n<p>In talking and listening, children will be asked to do solo talks based on a topic of their own interest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HWB: RSHP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this block we will be covering Similarity, Diversity and Respect. More information on the specifics of these lessons can be found on the RSHP website &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rshp.scot\/first-level\/\">https:\/\/rshp.scot\/first-level\/<\/a> We will also be continuing our work on growth mindset as well as thinking about what makes a good friend.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During this block we will be working towards Sports Day by working on fitness. We will continue to work on fitness and stamina this term as well as enjoying time outside. Children should come in gym kit on a Thursday and this should not include football tops.<\/p>\n<p>Homework<\/p>\n<p>Homework will go out every Friday and should be completed by the following Wednesday. The homework will consist of a reading book and a reading record for you to sign each week. Pupils who are reading books from our Oxford Reading Tree scheme (ORT) will also be provided with a word wall of common words for them to practise.
