The class teacher is Miss Ramsay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The topics that we will be covering during this block for Health and Wellbeing are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Looking after plant and animals<\/li>\n<li>My family\/All our families are different<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These topics are part of the First Level learning outlined by <a href=\"https:\/\/rshp.scot\/first-level\/\">RSHP<\/a> (Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood).<\/p>\n<p>We regularly discuss our school values \u2013 Safe, Ready and Respectful. These values help to form our Recognition Board focus for each week, which is decided on by the children.<\/p>\n<p>We do a weekly check-in on a Friday to discuss the highlights of our week, and the things that we would like to do differently in the next week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our gym day is a Wednesday. In P.E this block we will be focusing on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sports day practice<\/li>\n<li>Group games<\/li>\n<li>Using gym equipment<\/li>\n<li>Basketball<\/li>\n<li>Badminton<\/li>\n<li>Tennis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We aim to do our <strong>Daily Mile<\/strong> as much as possible (weather dependent!), and we also have regular movement breaks throughout our day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading, Listening &amp; Talking and Writing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This term we will be working on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alphabetical ordering<\/li>\n<li>Dictionary work<\/li>\n<li>Facts and opinions<\/li>\n<li>Reading for a range of purposes<\/li>\n<li>Using commas in a list<\/li>\n<li>Revising vowels and consonants<\/li>\n<li>Revising initial and consonant blends<\/li>\n<li>Word processing work<\/li>\n<li>Factfiles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also use the Literature Circle Skills to support our literacy lessons. This term we will be working on the <strong>Word Wizard<\/strong> and <strong>Illustrator<\/strong> skill.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homework<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Homework is handed out on a <strong>Friday<\/strong> and should be completed by <strong>the following Wednesday<\/strong>. Children are provided with a reading book and a word wall of common words to practise. Please ensure that your child brings their homework folder into school <strong>every day<\/strong> as we use these regularly throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numeracy and Mathematics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This term we will be working on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Estimation and rounding<\/li>\n<li>Place value revision<\/li>\n<li>Time<\/li>\n<li>Money revision<\/li>\n<li>Area and volume<\/li>\n<li>Angle and position<\/li>\n<li>Less than\/more than and using symbols<\/li>\n<li>Using maths think boards<\/li>\n<li>Ideas of change and uncertainty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We use our maths workbooks to support us when engaging in maths lessons. We have also started using our maths jotters, helping us to work more independently in numeracy and to focus on jotter expectations. We have been doing a great job so far!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our topic for this term is <strong>Under the Sea<\/strong>. We have started by thinking about all our prior knowledge on the topic and have asked questions about the things that we would like to find out about. We have already shown lots of knowledge about different sea animals and have started to find out facts about animals of interest. We will make links to other areas of the curriculum when engaging in topic lessons.
