Their class teacher is Mr Cameron, supported by both Mrs Christie and Miss O\u2019Neill. On a Wednesday morning, Mrs Iddir will teach RME. Primary 1\/2 are a class committed to following our school values \u2013 Safe, Ready and Respectful!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Block 1 &#8211; Numeracy\/Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Primary 1<\/strong> will focus on recognising and forming numbers to 10 and beyond.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Primary 2<\/strong> will focus on place value and counting, recognising and forming numbers to 100 Towards the end of block 1, we will be transferring these skills to addition and subtraction calculations.<\/li>\n<li>2D and 3D shapes and their properties<\/li>\n<li>Pattern and symmetry<\/li>\n<li>Measurement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Block 1 &#8211; Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Primary 1<\/strong> will focus on recognising and forming sounds using the Jolly Phonics programme. In Term 2, we will begin blending and dictating words to support reading and writing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Primary 2<\/strong> will continue working on spelling and grammar through the Jolly Grammar programme. We will also be learning to predict and summarise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Block 1 &#8211; Topic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This block, our topics are Houses\/Homes and Planet Earth. However, we are beginning the term with a mini-topic focusing on Health and Wellbeing: feelings and emotions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RSHP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence&#8217;s Health and Wellbeing strand, children in P1\/2 will also be learning about Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood. This block, we will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>People who help look after me<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Our families<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Friends and Friendships: playing together and being kind<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will be using a national resource that you can access at <a href=\"https:\/\/rshp.scot\">https:\/\/rshp.scot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gym Days:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our main gym day is Monday, and children should come dressed in their gym kit for the whole day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Homework:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Primary 1<\/strong>: Homework will be sent home on the days a sound is taught and returned the following day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Primary 2<\/strong>: Homework will be sent home on Friday and returned by Wednesday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Block One (August &#8211; December 2026) Primary 1\/2 is situated in Room 2 and currently has 25 children.
