Can you believe we are in Block 3 already? Doesn\u2019t time fly?<\/p>\n<p>Here is what we have planned for Block 3:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Class Charter:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our school values are SAFE, READY RESPECTFUL so our class charter is linked to them. We have been focusing on our actions each week and most of us have already been awarded our Hot Chocolatier of the week more than once. We continue to work especially on \u201cusing kind words and actions\u201d, \u201clisten and focus\u201d and using \u201cone voice\u201d.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our topic this block is \u201cThe Commonwealth Games and The World Cup\u201d. We will be learning about the host cities and countries, different stadiums, the sports and what we can learn from these sporting events.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Numeracy &amp; Maths:<\/li>\n<li>This block we are learning:<\/li>\n<li>Probability<\/li>\n<li>Data Handling<\/li>\n<li>Graph construction<\/li>\n<li>Graph interpretation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Literacy:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our class novel this Block is \u201cThe Incredible Record Smashers\u201d by Jenny Pearson. The main character in this novel, Lucy, is a fixer of broken things and she plans to smash a world record in order to help her mum.<\/p>\n<p>We will also have group readers which we will read in class each week and read for enjoyment.<\/p>\n<p>In writing we will be creating:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>leaflets<\/li>\n<li>Posters<\/li>\n<li>Fact files<\/li>\n<li>Imaginative writing pieces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In talking and listening we are continuing to focus on good listening skills, and talking skills within discussions and debates.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HWB:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This block we will be focusing on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>teamwork<\/li>\n<li>friendship groups<\/li>\n<li>being representatives in various situations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PE:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tuesday: indoor or outdoor PE (athletics, team games, rounders)<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: outdoor PE (games, the mile, trim trail, fitness, outdoor gym)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Homework:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our homework will consist of spelling and reading.<\/p>\n<p>The children will write the task into the homework jotter each week.<\/p>\n<p>This will be sent out on a Friday and should be returned on a Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no homework in June.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>P5b Events: More information to come<\/li>\n<li>A possible school trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking forward to a hard working but fun block.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Block Three (April &#8211; July 2026) Hi everyone and welcome again to the P5b school page.
