Starting in Methilhaven
To make the transition into nursery as smooth and seamless as possible – we run an enhanced programme to support your child.
For our Early Entrants this looks like –
- A home visit by one of the room staff and a member of the nursery team to meet you and your little one
- A visit to the room together
- A chance for your child to stay on their own
For our 3-5 Children this looks like –
- A Bookbug session – giving you the chance to meet other children starting in our Oak Room
- A visit to the room together
- A chance for your child to stay on their own
We will work with you to support your child to have the best start in nursery possible!
Moving on to Primary 1
When children are ready to move on to school, we provide a carefully supported transition program. This includes visits from local schools, sharing learning profiles, and preparing children for the routines and expectations of school life. We work closely with families and schools to ensure each child moves on with confidence, independence, and excitement for their next adventure. At every stage, we prioritise partnership with families, celebrating successes, listening to concerns, and making transitions as smooth and positive as possible.
Your catchment primary school is determined by postcode, however it is possible to apply for any school by filling in a placing request form. All information on applying for a space can be found using the link below or contacting your local primary school.

If your child is not 5 by the start of the school year in August they can have an additional year in nursery. This is called a deferred placement. Please speak to a member of staff if you wish to discuss your options.
