Term 4
\nLearning Overview for Primary 6<\/p>\n

Literacy
\nWRITING:
\nOur focus this term will be on personal writing and being
\nable to express our emotions an opinions with supporting
\ndetail. We will be learning to share experiences,
\nexpressing what they made us think or feel. We will
\ncontinue to practise the tools for writing, including
\npunctuation, grammar and handwriting.<\/p>\n

SPELLING & PHONICS: We will continue learn new
\nspelling rules and patterns each week which will help us
\nspell more difficult words. We will be learning specialist
\nwords linked to our topic and will learning to check and
\nedit our writing appropriately.<\/p>\n

READING: Our class novel this term will be \u2018Wonder\u2019 by
\nR.J Palacio. We will be considering the purpose and main
\nidea of the text and develop informed views about the
\ntext looking at fact and opinion. We will continue to look
\nfor clues and evidence in the text to back up our
\nresponses and complete comprehension and close reading
\nactivities. To make links between the novel and real
\nexperiences and link to our health and wellbeing
\ndiscussions.<\/p>\n

LISTENING & TALKING: We will continue to regularly
\nselect and create texts of choice and share them in
\ndifferent ways. There will be opportunities for listening
\nand talking through our H&B discussions. We will also be
\ncreating personal projects which will be shared with the
\nclass in a variety of ways.<\/p>\n

Numeracy and Mathematics
\nNUMERACY: We will start the term off by
\ncompleting our division topic started last term. We
\nwill then move onto decimals, fractions and
\npercentages and look at the link between them and
\nhow we can use them in different ways. We will also
\nhave the opportunity to investigate equations with
\nalgebraic expressions and problems solving this
\nterm.<\/p>\n

MATHEMATICS:
\nIn maths, we will complete the money topic started
\nlast term then we will move onto looking at data
\nhandling. In data handling we will be looking at
\ndifferent ways to interpret data using different
\ntypes of graphs. We will also introduce scale.
\nHealth and Wellbeing
\nP6b – Our P.E days are Monday & Wednesday.
\nP6a \u2013 Our P.E days are Monday & Tuesday.
\nIn PE we will be covering racquet sports, gymnastics and
\nathletics. Sports Day will be on Thursday 14th of May.<\/p>\n

Health:
\nWe will be continuing to focus on kindness, friendship and
\nrespect. We will continue to express ourselves in a
\npositive manner. We will be using Emotion Works and
\nTreehouse resource to support us in this. We will also
\ncover the primary 6 targets following the National
\nResource for Relationships, Sexual
\nHealth and Parenthood (RSHP) education for children and
\nyoung people.
\nOur Topic will be about\u2026
\nBODY SYSTEMS AND CELLS<\/p>\n

We will explore the structure and function of sensory
\norgans, looking at body systems and how they support our
\ngrowth and development. We will investigate the role of
\nmicro-organisms in producing and breaking down materials.
\nWe will investigate lifecycles of plants and animals. We will
\nexplore characteristics offspring inherit and distinguish
\nbetween inherited and non-inherited characteristics.
