Last term we also looked at different openers so will use these as well as learning about different connectives.

Linking to our topic we will learn and take notes of different space facts. We will use this to make a fact file about the different planets.

SPELLING & PHONICS:

We will continue to revisit some of the more challenging phonics sounds and digraphs from last year to support accurate spelling of tricky words. Children can then apply their knowledge of these sounds to strengthen both their reading and writing. In their spelling/phonics groups, they will focus on weekly target sounds, learning spelling patterns and rules that help to support their independent writing skills.

READING:

We will learn how to identify verbs in a sentence. We will also look at recognising alliteration in text.

Linked to our topic we will be learning to understand the difference between fact and opinion.

LISTENING & TALKING:

Children will continue to develop their listening skills, learning to listen carefully for key information. They will be encouraged to share their ideas confidently and support them by explaining their reasoning. Opportunities will also be provided to strengthen their ability to talk in front of an audience, as well as to ask and answer questions clearly and thoughtfully.

MODERN LANGUAGES:

We will use songs and a range of fun, interactive resources to help build our understanding of the French language. We will also embed French into our everyday classroom routines, such as talking about the weather, the date, and following classroom instructions as well as making relevant links between the language and our space topic.

NUMERACY AND MATHEMATICS

NUMERACY:

Squares: Learning to counting to 1000 as well as looking at all multiplication tables.
