Curriculum for Excellence
In Scotland our curriculum is framed by four contexts. At Lundin Mill these contexts are intertwined through our learning experiences and outcomes.
The Curriculum for Excellence places learners at the heart of education and at its centre there are four fundamental capacities. We celebrate our Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors each day in class and weekly at assembly.
Our curriculum is planned by bundling Experiences and Outcomes that are set as part of our broad general education in the following curricular areas:
- Literacy & English
- Health & wellbeing
- Technologies
- Sciences
- Social Studies
- Numeracy & Maths
- Expressive Arts
- Religious and Moral Ed.
- French & British Sign Language (BSL- P5-7)
The CfE Benchmarks set out clear statements about what learners need to know and are able to do, to achieve a level. The generic expectations are:
Early Level: Nursery – P1
First Level P2 – P4
Second Level P5 – P7
We appreciate all children learn at different times and their pace of learning will be individual. However, we encourage all children to be challenged and have high expectations for their learning as well as their behaviours and how they conduct themselves in class, school and our community.
