Anti-Bullying Policy

What is Bullying?

Bullying is something that can hurt you on the inside or on the outside. It hurts you on the outside if you are hit physically. It hurts you on the inside by name calling, insulting or saying things that are not very nice knowing that they will hurt your feelings. This can happen to your face or on social media.

Lundin Mill children have described bullying as:

  • being mean on purpose and not by accident
  • always hurting others and blaming it on the game
  • making fun of people and laughing at them
  • ganging up on someone and making them feel sad and left out
  • hurting others with words and by hitting
  • being mean on your phone and not including everyone in the groups
  • forcing and controlling people to do things that they wouldn’t do themselves
  • threatening others and sharing their secrets

Bullying can be…

  • Verbal, being teased and called names
  • Physical, being hit, kicked or spat on
  • Social, being nasty, mean, threatening and leaving people out on purpose

Cyber, being unkind over social media and texts

Lundin Mill children believe others bully because…

  • of their race and how they look
  • parents setting bad example
  • they used to be bullied
  • they have been hurt and want others to feel the same way
  • previous life experiences
  • jealous
  • poor mental health
  • additional support needs

Bullies can make you…

  • feel scared
  • feel sad and lonely
  • feel upset and be emotional
  • feel worthless and horrible
  • feel angry and mad
  • feel worried and anxious
  • feel hurt in your heart and body
  • hate yourself as well as everyone else

Together at Lundin Mill we will:

  • show our best and follow our school values

  • remind everyone to have ‘kind hands, kind feet and kind words’
  • give time, space and support to resolve fall outs and conflicts
  • use our ‘fix it folder’ and ‘give it time wheel,’ to support restorative conversations
  • provide safe spaces in school and the playground e.g. Breakfast Club, Calm Corners, The Quozy, Friendship Station & our Quiet Bench
  • have peer mediators and play leaders in the playground
  • organise social and emotional group times e.g. Kitbag or Kimochis
  • call out bullying behaviours that will be followed by consequences
