Our U14s travelled to the dark side of Fife on Wednesday 22nd November to take on high-flying Queen Anne knowing that a good result was needed to maintain their hopes of qualifying from their League section.<\/p>\n

Kirkcaldy started well and looked comfortable for most of the first half, however, a defensive mix-up led to Queen Anne opening the scoring \u2013 slightly against the run of play. Still, Kirkcaldy were determined to get themselves level and good link-up play between Jack B and Lucas W saw the latter fire just over the bar. The Kirkcaldy midfield of Callen D, Aaron L and Michael S were starting to impose themselves on the game when disaster struck on the stroke of half time as Queen Anne went two up.<\/p>\n

The wind was becoming a factor and led to two more Queen Anne goals before Kirkcaldy fought back. First Michael Sharp powered from midfield and drove low into the left-hand corner of the net before Josh Henderson nodded us back to within two of the hosts. Josh\u2019s wonderful headed finish sparked a furious debate on the KHS touchline with the subs claiming that Josh had actually meant it! However, this reporter is in no doubt that he did, showing great bravery and determination to bring us back into the game.<\/p>\n

The second goal breathed new life into the KHS team. Unfortunately, another defensive calamity killed us off and the match ended 5-2 to the hosts.<\/p>\n

This was KHS\u2019s fourth game of the season. A great start to the campaign, saw us defeating Arbroath HS in the Scottish Shield first round before losing to Dunfermline 3-1 in Round 2. In the league the lads were very unlucky to lose a last-minute winner against Glenwood, going down 3-2.<\/p>\n

With the defeat at Queen Anne we have now lost our opening two league games meaning next week\u2019s trip to Dunfermline HS is a must-win game \u2013 we also need to rely on other results going our way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
