What a difference a week makes with the weather moving from sunshine to showers. The weather hasn\u2019t dampened spirits in KHS though, after a very busy and productive week.<\/p>\n
The week that\u2019s been\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n This week we have had a number of young people on educational excursions, some near and another far. Half of our S1 group have attended Fordell Firs, Monday \u2013 Wednesday, supported by Guidance staff, house leaders and house captains. The young people have had a fantastic time, enjoying the outdoor adventure and activities. It is great to see them develop their confidence, determination and resilience as well as teamwork. Well done to all involved and good luck to those attending next week.<\/p>\n We have also had young people visiting Washington D.C. in the U.S. After an interrupted start (delay in connecting flights), young people have been having a great time, taking in the sights and exploring the area. We wish all a safe trip home and look forward to hearing about their adventures on their return.<\/p>\n I am also pleased to share a some success with you regarding football\u2026Our S1 Girls Football team have won the Adam Smith Cup this week at Starks Park, beating a good Balwearie team 5-0.<\/p>\n It has been a great week in our Supported Learning department with many opportunities and experiences for our learners. Mrs Wilkie (PT SLD) has provided an update on the department and all that is happening\u2026\u2019Our department is even bigger! We now have pupils from S1-S5 in our Supported Learning department.\u202fOver the last few weeks our \u202fSLD\u202f classes have been settling back into their routines\u202fand working hard to build positive relationships. We have welcomed\u202ften\u202fnew S1 pupils who are getting to know each other and are becoming familiar with\u202ftheir timetables, the\u202fstaff\u202fand the wider school.<\/p>\n We have also welcomed a new teacher to the department. Welcome\u202fMrs Foster,\u202fwho\u202fhas joined us from\u202fLochgelly\u202fDepartment of Additional Support.<\/p>\n It is great to see some of our pupils\u202fintegrating into\u202fmore\u202fmainstream classes for various subjects such as Horticulture,\u202fPE\u202fand CDT.\u202fMany of these\u202fpupils are going to these classes independently and it is lovely to see them become confident individuals and successful learners.<\/p>\n As a department we have been working on Kindness and thinking about simple acts of kindness that might help make people’s days more positive. We look forward to building on all of these successes as the term progresses.\u2019<\/p>\n Lastly, there are a number of attachments for parents \/ carers attached to the groupcall email. Please take time to read through these as there is a lot of important information contained including:<\/p>\n Young people in S1 continue with their visits to Fordell Firs Monday \u2013 Wednesday.<\/p>\n Our first tracking reports for this session will be available to view next Friday, using our new online tracking system, Didbook \u2013 Progress.
