Welcome to this weeks Rector\u2019s log. I hope you and your family are doing well.<\/p>\n
The week that\u2019s been\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n It has been a really busy week here at KHS\u2026<\/p>\n As you may be aware, we have had a number of staff absences and some young people have had to continue learning in the assembly hall. We hope that this situation improves over the coming week, but we have plans in place to support learners and ensure continuity of learning continues.<\/p>\n This week, we had 21 S6 Sports Leaders successfully achieve the Level 1: Fundamentals of Handball coaching qualification delivered by Handball Scotland. These pupils will use this resource when delivering lessons to primary and S1 classes as part of the SQA Leadership Award. Well done to all involved.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, our S6 cohort attended the UCAS exhibition at Rothes Hall in Glenrothes to learn more about the process of applying to university.<\/p>\n As ever, Mrs Whyte asked me to share the following around DYW:<\/p>\n We have a range of opportunities for pupils who want to gain a flavour of life in different sectors including Law, Accountancy, Engineering, Construction and Medicine. Including some interactive work experience opportunities – these are great to add to college\/university applications but also CVs and apprenticeship applications. See the Padlet for more information and speak to Mrs Whyte for any help.<\/p>\n Thank you to all parents \/ carers that have replied to the Parents\u2019 Evening survey. Over 250 parents have replied with the vast majority preferring in person Parents\u2019 Evening rather than virtual. This will form part of the agenda at Parent Council on Tuesday 13th September<\/strong>. A link and agenda have been sent to all parents \/ carers via Groupcall email.<\/p>\n The week ahead\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n Due to the busy nature of this week, I didn\u2019t manage to drop in on S5\/6. Therefore, Mrs Davidson and I will drop in on S5\/6 next week. We will also start to focus on attendance and mobile phones over the coming week(s).<\/p>\n Lastly, the school nurse team will be in on Friday to advertise the Kirkcaldy Health Zone.
