Astroturf during Study Leave (Mr Stewart)<\/strong>
\nThe Astroturf will only be open for PE classes during study leave. Pupils who are on study leave are not permitted to use the Astro during the school day. The Astro will be locked when not in use by the PE department.<\/p>\n

Lost Property in PE (Mr Stewart)<\/strong>
\nThere has been a huge amount of lost property collected in the PE department last term. If you have lost something, please ask one of the PE staff to check this week as all clothing left will be given to charity next week.<\/p>\n

Prefect Applications (J Davidson)<\/strong>
\nS5 pupils – reminder the deadline for prefect applications is Wed 20 April.<\/p>\n

S3 Prefects (J Davidson)<\/strong>
\nCan all those who applied to be a prefect along with all S3 pupils who were prefects in January, please attend a short meeting in the assembly hall today at interval. Rotas and groups will be decided.<\/p>\n

Our Girls’ Can (Miss Hay)<\/strong>
\nOur Girls Can will start back tomorrow after school. Please meet in B6 at 3:15pm.<\/p>\n

IT Hub (J Davidson)<\/strong>
\nAll S6 who have study periods should go back and use the library this week please. IT Hub is now being used for meetings etc. Usual expectations re NO LITTER in the library please.<\/p>\n

S3 Prefect Sign-up<\/p><\/div>\n

During study leave, we offer an excellent leadership opportunity to S3 who are interested in filling in for prefects. It will involve doing duties a few times per week but is great experience especially for those looking to take on additional responsibility and for those interested in becoming prefects in S6. Please complete the form on the S3 Year group Team by Wed 20 April. You will meet with the Pupil Leadership Team on Thursday to arrange duties etc. S3 Monitor Application<\/a><\/p>\n

S2 Pupils – First Chances (Mrs Nessel)<\/strong>
\nIf you would be interested in joining the First Chances programme with St Andrews University in S3, please fill in the form via QR code to apply. In the programme you get to take part in trips to University and College, including over night residential stays. They also support you with free tutoring and help with school work from S3-S6. You can also apply for special funding for University\/college when you leave school if you are part of the programme.<\/p>\n

Prom 2022 (Mr Fulton)<\/strong>
\nCan all S6 who are attending the prom please make sure they have done the following by the end of the week:<\/p>\n

\nRead the contract, shared it with your parents and returned it using the QR code at the prefect base.<\/p>\n

Failure to do both of these tasks will result in you not being allowed to attend. Please make myself, Mrs Hardie or Mr I’Anson aware if you are having difficulty paying before Friday. Thank you.<\/p>\n

Rights Respecting Schools – Ukraine Appeal (Miss Young)<\/strong>
\nThe Rights Respecting School\u2019s group would like to thank KHS for raising a grand total of \u00a31724 for the Ukraine crisis appeal. This will allow 57 large first aid kits to be sent out to health workers in Ukraine or pay for 38 emergency water and hygiene kits for families. We were also overwhelmed by the very generous number of items donated. This has clearly been an issue which has touched us all and your generosity and kindness are appreciated. Thanks for supporting the work of UNICEFF and helping children across the world. Our next project will be start after Easter, look out for the next notice! (please see pictures below, this is only a very small sample of the items we received!).

\nS4-6 pupils – Anyone interested in finding out about jobs in Graphic Design should attend a talk in C4 on Wed at 2:45pm. Multiprint are looking for a Print Finisher and a representative from the company is coming into school to meet with anyone interested.<\/p>\n

House Point Questionnaire (Mr Spink)<\/strong>
\nCan all pupils please make sure they have completed the House Point Questionnaire this week, if they have not already done so? S4-6, it is imperative that you do this before you leave on Friday, it only takes a couple of minutes! Remember, you can access it through the QR code here, or use the ones dotted throughout the building. The current response count is 176 (around 13% of school roll), so let’s see if we can get this higher.

S1-S2 Rwandan African Tea Tasting Session (Mrs McMahon)<\/strong>
\nAny pupil who wishes to come along to a\u00a0presentation from David Gasana and a demonstration of how to make Rwandan African Tea (and then drink it) should come along to D2\/4 Home Economics to see Mrs McMahon. The session will take place Period 2 on Friday 29 April.\u00a0 \u00a0First come first served, 20 pupils max.<\/p>\n

The Tilda Street Food Challenge 2022! (Miss Collins)<\/strong>
\nFDF Scotland have teamed up with Tilda rice to challenge pupils from S1 to S3 to research, design and market a rice based street food dish, based on Tilda ambient rice.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s involved?
\n\u2022 Work independently or in groups of up to 3
\n\u2022 Investigate what types of dishes might appeal to young people your age
\n\u2022 Channel your inner chef to design a new street food dish
\n\u2022 Design a marketing campaign to accompany the product
\n\u2022 Research the process of growing, harvesting and producing rice, and it\u2019s economic and health importance across the globe
\n\u2022 Think how the dish can be made sustainable
\n\u2022 Include nutritional information and highlight any allergens<\/p>\n

Entries to be submitted by 21 May 2022. (All information is on teams). Please see Miss Collins if you would like to use the school kitchen (after school) to work with your team.<\/p>\n
