Welcome to our weekly family and community communication that provides a Headteacher overview of the weeks events and other school-based events and information.<\/p>\n
The week that\u2019s been\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n It has been a very busy week in KHS with exams, learning and sunshine!<\/p>\n Learners in S4-6 continued with their examinations this week. Over the course of the week we have had the following examinations take place \u2013 Music (all levels), Biology (all levels), English (all levels) plus more! Our young people continue to show great determination and positivity throughout. As ever, their conduct is first class. We even managed a year without a power cut \/ no water for N5 English. Hopefully this continues for all exams!<\/p>\n I have been around most classes over the past 2 days, checking in with learners on their learning, application in class, uniform and iPads. I have been impressed with almost all learners in their commitment to our community, through wearing of uniform, learning, through the continued use of iPads and through their ambition in working hard over the term so far. Well done to all.<\/p>\n Some areas I would seek your support on would be ensuring that your child(ren)s iPad is charged prior to school and some elements of uniform, including appropriate footwear (no crocs) and appropriate shirts \/ polo shirts as some of our young people are wearing tops not appropriate for school.<\/p>\n If you want to read more about what is happening here at KHS, please follow our blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n House Points<\/strong><\/p>\n Please see below the House\u202fPoints:<\/p>\n Adam Smith – 93<\/span> Overall total: Please find an updated draft mobile phone policy<\/a> and a new class \/ toilet pass policy<\/a>. As you will be aware, I sought the views of families, young people and staff about our current phone policy. Following this, I have updated our policy based on the consensus view from this feedback. I will offer a session on Tuesday after this terms PACK meeting to anyone who would like to discuss this more fully.<\/p>\n In terms of passes, I shared with you information in our start of term letter<\/a> around the need to create this policy with the current number of learners with a pass being unsafe and unsustainable.<\/p>\n Lastly, you may be aware that Mr Farquharson is currently off and that year heads have been picking up caseload issues. From Tuesday, Ms Leiper will take up responsibility for Mr F\u2019s caseload until his return.<\/p>\n The week ahead\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n A reminder that the school will be closed on Monday 4th May 2026<\/strong> for the bank holiday. Learners and staff will return on Tuesday 5th of May<\/strong> as normal. No examinations are to take place on Monday. In addition, we have a staff INSET day on Thursday 7th May<\/strong> and school will again be closed to learners, reopening on Friday 8th May.<\/p>\n N.B. Those undertaking Higher and Advanced Higher Maths should attend for their examination. As shared prior to the holiday, there is no school transport on the 7th May and learners must make their own way to and from KHS.<\/p>\n Finally, out last and final PACK (Parent \/ Carer council)<\/a> meeting is due to take place on Tuesday 5th May 6pm \u2013 7pm.
