Over the summer we had 11 Career Ready pupils complete their summer internships across Fife. The feedback from the mentors and companies was universally positive; our pupils did an amazing job, and did themselves, and their school very proud indeed.<\/p>\n
Some of the things they’ve been involved with were:<\/p>\n
Calli N:<\/strong> Worked in Fair Isle Nursery<\/a> for 4 weeks where she was particularly involved in working with pupils with ASNs and did a “learning through play” project. The staff were really positive about her during her placement and, while she no longer wants to be a primary school teacher she has now left school to do a college course in childcare to become an Early Learning Officer.<\/p>\n Kyle S:<\/strong> Worked in DPS Group<\/a> in Glenrothes where he worked with a group of interns to plan an outreach football tournament for local high schools in the area. He gave a very confident presentation on his time there, and said it helped to steer him away from a career in the RAF to now looking to study law or politics.<\/p>\n Mirren A:<\/strong> Worked in TechnipFMC<\/a> in Dunfermline where she was in a team with a lot of interns from across Fife. She did various placements in different departments across the company and gave what I think was the best presentation out of the lot to a room of over 50 engineers and executives. She said she now hopes to get an apprenticeship there after KHS.<\/p>\n Matthew G:<\/strong> Worked in Diageo<\/a> in Leven as part of a large cohort. He spent his time doing placements with different departments and making educational videos\/presentations on the working of different sectors of the facility. He also gave a very strong presentation on his time to a large group of executives and engineers.<\/p>\n Zaina U:<\/strong> Worked in Fife Social Care<\/a> with a small group of interns where she planned and delivered an activities day for adults with complex needs which was a great success.<\/p>\n Sophie W:<\/strong> Worked in Social Security Scotland<\/a> where, she made a really positive impression on the staff, got to visit the Scottish Parliament, met the First Minister, and really grew in confidence.<\/p>\n Chloe C:<\/strong> Worked in LinkLiving<\/a> in Kirkcaldy, a charity that provides housing to those in need. She got to shadow various members of staff, gained experience doing a range of admin and office-based work, which helped her to build her confidence and interpersonal skills. She’s now talking about becoming a counsellor\/psychologist<\/p>\n Shannon M:<\/strong> Also worked in Amazon in Dunfermline<\/a> on the same project as Myah. Her mentor said Shannon actually led the team and made a really positive impression on the staff during her time there.<\/p>\n Cailey L:<\/strong> Worked at Kingdom Support and Care<\/a> in Kirkcaldy, where she got to work with a wide range of staff support adults struggling with homelessness and a range of issues in their lives. Despite being very nervous she opted to give a presentation to 10 staff (and me) and delivered a very confident presentation. She’s now talking about working as a social worker\/carer after KHS.<\/p>\n Well done to everyone! Myhrren W:<\/strong> Worked in Fairway Fife<\/a> in Dunfermline where she was a Peer Mentor for adults with complex learning difficulties, taking them for days out or doing activities in their centre. She really grew in confidence over the 4 weeks and has continued to volunteer with the charity for the rest of the summer, and indeed intends to stay involved for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n![\"Well](\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/kirkcaldyhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/12475\/2025\/08\/27144813\/2025-08-26-Career-Ready-2-300x225.jpg\")
Myah C:<\/strong> Worked in Amazon in Dunfermline<\/a>. She worked with a group of interns to plan a family sports day at the warehouse to boost employee wellbeing and seems to have come out of her shell a bit. Is now talking about being a marine biologist<\/p>\n
