I hope you and your family are doing well! This is the last Rector\u2019s Log of the term.<\/p>\n<p>\u200b<strong>The week that\u2019s been\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been another busy week here at school and I think that some of our learners are needing a rest! It has been a very long term 3 but the end is in sight for all with one full week to go!<\/p>\n<p>This week, learning continued with some classes taking full advantage of some sunshine and taking their learning outdoors. Classes from Social Subjects and Science have been exploring our environment around the school grounds!<\/p>\n<p>Across the senior school young people continue to prepare for their national qualifications with completion of assessments and course work. We have had assessments in maths, science and home economics to name just a few. Well done to all our learners who are showing great resilience and determination in a very busy term. Thank you to all colleagues who are supporting our young people too.<\/p>\n<p>We have also been busy in school with work continuing with on our School Improvement Plan on areas around an updated positive relationships policy, a new learning standard and continued discussion around our school vision, values and aims. Next week, I will share more detail about each of these areas in the end of term letter and we will be seeking your views around this too.<\/p>\n<p>As always, you can read more about all the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/kirkcaldyhighschool\/category\/latest-news\/\">goings on in our blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A wee update from Ms Black and our Supported Learning department:<\/p>\n<p><em>Our learners are often keen to share the amazing learning and creations that are produced in Home Economics but this week there were zero tastings going on.\u202f In SLD2 the chocolate brownies were just too tasty and seemed to be very quickly enjoyed; there was much delight at how good they were and much proudness, as they should be, that they&#8217;d made these.\u202f Two of our senior learners let us look at their spring themed cakes and they are absolutely fantastic.\u202f As well as the skills they have demonstrated we loved that we could see their own creative styles comes through in their designs.\u202f <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/kirkcaldyhighschool\/2025\/03\/28\/cake-decorating-to-make-mary-berry-proud\/\">Photos have been uploaded to Socials<\/a> for you to enjoy &#8211; well done Dylan and Levi.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>SLD3 were also demonstrating their creativity in their Media project.\u202f They chose to demonstrate their learning through the construction of a video game &#8211; looking at gameplay, language, graphics, genre and storytelling.\u202f All very original and highly thought-out pieces of work.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This week also saw the start of our Inclusive Cricket sessions which all classes are participating in.\u202f Learners were very excited to share what they had been practising and to try a new sport.\u202f Many thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fifeleisure.org.uk\/clubs\/disability-sport-fife-scio\/\">Disability Sport Fife<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.falklandcricketclub.com\/\">Falkland Cricket<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cricketscotland.com\/\">Cricket Scotland<\/a> for the coaching and look out on Socials for photos.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>House Point totals for the week and session so far are as below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>This weeks total:<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #bf40bf\">Adam Smith &#8211; 154<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Carlyle &#8211; 146<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966\">Oswald &#8211; 187<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Overall total:<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #bf40bf\">Adam Smith &#8211; 2929<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Carlyle &#8211; 3134<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #339966\">Oswald &#8211; 3358<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Well done to all!<\/p>\n<p>Please find a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/kirkcaldyhighschool\/uploads\/sites\/12475\/2025\/03\/28173958\/KHS-Easter-School-Letter-2025-2.pdf\">letter from Mrs Hume<\/a> containing information about our Easter School programme for those young people in S4-6 to help prepare for the upcoming National Qualification exams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The week ahead\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next week is the last week of the term. School finishes at <strong>1.05pm on Friday 4th April 2025<\/strong> for young people. Friday will be a non-school uniform day. As always, we ask where possible, for a small donation for charity as part of this event.<\/p>\n<p>There will be assemblies next week as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>S1 Assembly \u2013 Wednesday 2nd April 2025 Period 2 \u2013 Theme is around safety in the community and involves input by safer communities, Fire and Police.<\/li>\n<li>House Assemblies \u2013 Thursday 3rd April 2025 \u2013 Period 3 \/ 4 \/ 5 \u2013 Theme is our annual leavers assemblies<\/li>\n<li>S2 Assembly \u2013 Friday 4th April 2025 Period 2- Theme is around sharing information on our short course options for S3 prior to young people deciding this.<\/li>\n<li>S4-6 Assembly \u2013 Friday 4th April 2025 \u2013 Period 5 \u2013 Theme is SQA and examinations led by Mrs Davidson and Ms Maloney (SQA Chief Invigilator).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will also be celebrating Eid with a party on Thursday 3rd April 2025 at lunchtime in our HE department with young people, staff and invited guests.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I will send an end of term letter to all families on the last day of term.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you and your family have a great weekend and a restful holiday when it comes!<br \/>\n\u200b<\/p>\n<p>Best wishes,<\/p>\n<p>Chris McKay<br \/>\nRector<br \/>\n28 March 2025<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parent \/ Carer, Welcome to this weeks Rector\u2019s Log.
