In our nursery children’s social skills will be fostered in an environment where positive behaviour is actively promoted.<\/p>\n
It is vital for all staff to develop a consistent approach to managing children\u2019s behaviour and to offer solutions to help children restore relationships.<\/p>\n
Emotion Works is used across our nursery and school to help children to identify their emotions, the triggers and what solutions can help resolve the issue.<\/p>\n
Children are encouraged to say \u2018no\u2019 to each other, firmly but kindly.<\/p>\n
Children will soon realise that they can take control of these situations. Staff need to observe and to be aware of children\u2019s relationships and any difficulties which arise.<\/p>\n
In a few cases a specific programme may need to be developed by the staff team to support a child.<\/p>\n
Behaviour is a form of communication and can occur for a number of reasons:<\/p>\n
Some children find sharing toys and space more difficult than others.<\/p>\n
Nursery children are just beginning to learn how to relate to other children and adults. They are at the very early stages of developing friendships and have a lot to learn.<\/p>\n
Some children find learning to share and playing alongside other children more difficult than others.<\/p>\n
