{"id":629,"date":"2022-04-21T11:22:59","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T10:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/inverkeithingprimaryschool\/?page_id=629"},"modified":"2024-12-13T07:53:28","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T07:53:28","slug":"safeguarding-and-child-protection","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/inverkeithingprimaryschool\/safeguarding-and-child-protection\/","title":{"rendered":"Safeguarding and Child Protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>What is Child Protection?<\/h3>\n<p>All children and young people have the right to be cared for and protected from harm and to grow up in a safe environment where their rights and needs are respected.<\/p>\n<p>Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child states:<br \/>\n<strong><em>\u2018Parties shall take all appropriate legislative, administrative, social and emotional measures to protect the child from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse, while in the care of parent(s), legal guardian(s) or any other person who has the care of the child.\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Fife, we support the ethos that\u00a0<strong><em>\u201cchild protection is everyone\u2019s job and everyone\u2019s responsibility\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>All professionals have a responsibility to respond appropriately and immediately if they believe a child is at risk from harm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Child Protection Co-ordinators:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Inverkeithing Primary School we have a tram of trained staff who support child protection matters:<\/p>\n<p>Child Protection Coordinator- Mrs C Gardiner<\/p>\n<p>Depute Child Protection Coordinator- Mrs L Reekie and Mr D Gillespie<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-787\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/inverkeithingprimaryschool\/uploads\/sites\/12497\/2023\/04\/25134419\/Child-Protection-Team-300x179.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/inverkeithingprimaryschool\/uploads\/sites\/12497\/2023\/04\/25134419\/Child-Protection-Team-300x179.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/inverkeithingprimaryschool\/uploads\/sites\/12497\/2023\/04\/25134419\/Child-Protection-Team.png 551w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Working together:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"_NrlkuJ2S3S5Riz\" dir=\"ltr\">We aim to work together with families, colleagues and multiagency partners to support our children to be safe and happy.<\/p>\n<p id=\"_yyDn08JI6DBe4K\" dir=\"ltr\">Staff know to alert the Child Protection Coordinators immediately should they have a Child Protection Concern. When dealing with child protection concerns we always consider the child\u2019s best interests.
