National 4 Practical Cookery

In 4th year, pupils will sit their National 4 assessments. These are:

  • Cookery Skills, Techniques and Processes
  • Understanding and Using Ingredients
  • Organisational Skills for Cooking
  • Added Value Unit

During S4, pupils gain a variety of skills for learning including responsibility, organisation, independent working, using their initiative and collaboration. Alongside this, pupils work towards creating dishes for their final assessments, which include 2 courses in a set time limit. After S4, pupils can go on to study Practical Cookery at National 5 level, NPA Bakery or National 5 Practical Cake Craft.
