The origins of Holy Name school can go back as far as 1859 when the Forth Iron Company, owned by the Smith-Silgo family of Inzievar House, built Forth Academy at Oakley which was attended by all children in the village.
The original building is now the village’s community centre.
During the early part of the 20th century the school was known as St Margaret’s Primary and was still a school for all of Oakley’s children.
In 1952 after a huge growth in the population of Oakley, new schools were built at Link Road, (which opened on 4th February 1952) for non-Catholic infants and a new junior secondary, Inzievar Secondary School (opened in 1953), built at Station Road for the primary and secondary pupils.
The original Forth Academy building was renamed to Holy Name Primary School at this time and continued to house Holy Name Primary School until the mid 1960s.
In 1965, Holy Name Primary School moved from the original
building into the Link Road school building, after the infant pupils merged with the junior pupils into Inzievar school on Station Road.
In February 2007, our school was relocated to the new Oakley
Campus, (officially opened on 18th June 2007) which we share with Inzievar P.S., the Nursery and Community Library. We are delighted with our premises and enjoy working in partnership with Inzievar P.S. Once more all pupils are being educated under the same roof again.
