We think it&#8217;s important to think about what we do in a flexible way, with different layers of support and action from different people and services.<\/p>\n<p>You can find out more by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fife.gov.uk\/kb\/docs\/articles\/health-and-social-care2\/help-for-young-people\/emotional-wellbeing\/adults-supporting-young-people\">clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are five key ways of keeping emotionally well.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fife.gov.uk\/kb\/docs\/articles\/health-and-social-care2\/help-for-young-people\/emotional-wellbeing\/adults-supporting-young-people\/five-ways-to-look-after-your-wellbeing\">Click here<\/a>\u00a0to find out more about some simple things we can all do to make a difference.<\/p>\n<h3>HandsOn<\/h3>\n<p>The HandsOn website (below) provides help and practical advice for supporting children and young people&#8217;s mental health and emotional wellbeing. This website is for parents, carers and people who work with children and young people in Fife.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.handsonscotland.co.uk\/\">https:\/\/www.handsonscotland.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Parents and Carers wishing to find out more about their child\u2019s wellbeing can access information on alcohol, drugs and smoking on a number of information rich websites.<\/p>\n<p>In particular,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parentzonescotland.gov.uk\/Wellbeing\/HealthAndWelfare\/index.asp\" target=\"undefined\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ParentZone<\/a>\u00a0has a Health and Wellbeing section covering Alcohol, Bullying, Drugs, Sexual Relationships, Smoking and other issues<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childline.org.uk\/\" target=\"undefined\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Childline<\/a>\u00a0covers a wide range of advice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To help support your child\u2019s education there are websites offering\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.parentzonescotland.gov.uk\/HelpWithHomework\/Introduction.asp\" target=\"undefined\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Homework Help<\/a>\u00a0and ideas on how to foster\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltscotland.org.uk\/studyskills\/index.asp\" target=\"undefined\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Study Skills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Secondary school pupils have extra links included in their own Pupils&#8217; section and teachers will be adding more links within their own subject pages.<\/p>\n<p>The school itself has a number of initiatives cover your child\u2019s health and safety such as Promoting Positive Behaviour and Health Promoting schools so please look at the Initiatives section of the school\u2019s site.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solihull Approach &#8211; Improve Emotional Health and Wellbeing\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Fife Council are delighted to announce that multi-user licence for three Solihull Approach online courses, will soon be made available for all parents, carers and parents-to-be.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Solihull Approach aims to improve emotional health and wellbeing\u00a0by supporting relationships and is designed to understand behaviours in a non-judgemental way and to develop the most appropriate responses. This supports the emotional health and well-being in children, families and adults (<a class=\"Hyperlink SCXW17477470 BCX0\" href=\"http:\/\/www.solihullapproachparenting.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.solihullapproachparenting.com<\/a>). The courses are written by CAMHS professionals with other health and education workers and are evidence based.<\/p>\n<p>The approach has been well established within Fife and has been used successfully within all our Fife Council ELC settings, our Educational Psychology Service, within midwife and Health Visitor teams and throughout CAMHS.<\/p>\n<p>This approach will now be available online for every resident, free of charge and will be of particular benefit to our parents and carers.<\/p>\n<p>These courses are for ALL parents-to-be, parents, grandparents or carers of any child from the antenatal period to age 18 years who want to be the best they can be. You don\u2019t need to be struggling. This course is relevant to parents of all children, including those with additional support needs, autism, ADHD etc.<\/p>\n<p>We know the current situation is placing a unique level of challenge for our families and we hope the materials will be particularly helpful at this time and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Together we are aiming to encourage and support\u00a0parents\u2018 self-development and improve children\u2019s wellbeing at the same time. A home life with strong\u00a0and trusted relationships can improve concentration, learning and performance at school.<\/p>\n<p>More information will follow which will provide details of how to access this programme.<\/p>\n<p>Fife\u2019s Educational Psychology Service (EPS)<\/p>\n<p>provide assessment, consultation and advice to schools and parents about children\u2019s wellbeing, learning and behaviour. We specialise on the children identified as having Additional Support Needs under normal circumstances but recognise that the current arrangements to respond to the threat of Coronavirus has led to children and families experiencing challenges that may not normally arise.
