Hill of Beath Primary School operates a house system. There are 4 houses, each named after a Scottish tree species native to the local area. The houses are each represented by a colour; Rowan (Red), Willow (Blue), Ash (Green) and Hawthorn (Yellow). <\/p>\n<p>Why use a house system?<br \/>\n1) House systems are used in school to help build pupil relationships across year groups and to instil a sense of belonging to a team and working together to support each other\/gain rewards.<br \/>\n2) By using a well defined tariff for points, pupils are clear about the approaches that are expected of them eg following school values. House points are a very tangible way to motivate pupils&#8217; and to reward their efforts.<br \/>\n3) By sharing focussed targets, parents can develop an understanding of what &#8216;good learning habits&#8217; look like at Hill of Beath PS and can discuss this with children\/staff.<\/p>\n<p>How does it work?<br \/>\nWhen pupils enrol they are assigned a house and can start earning points for their house by following school values and\/or displaying positive attributes. Children in families are all assigned the same house. Tokens are issued to represent house points and the group that gathers most tokens over a school week is declared to be the &#8216;winning house&#8217;. Each week children in the winning house are given a privilege. Winning houses for each term are rewarded, and the overall winning house for the year wins the house trophy and everyone in that house gets a special treat.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does Hill of Beath Primary school have a house system?
