We are excited to share that we are now working to become a Rights Respecting School.
What is a Rights Respecting School?
In a Rights Respecting School, children, young people and the school community learn about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day. The Award is not just about what children do but also, importantly, what adults as duty bearers do for children’s rights.
We have a rights respecting focus group, we welcome:
P7a – Millie K and Lucca
P7b – Frazer and Reo
P6a – Alba and Ramsay
P6b – Claire and Milo
P5/6 – Leah and Elise
P5 – Lara and Kai
P4/5 – Elle and Jamie
We look forward to working together to ensure we are putting children’s rights at the heart of our school.
We are going to focus on a ‘Right of the Month’ in class. Below are the rights we will focus on
this term:
Month | Right of the Month |
January | Article 31 – You have the right to play and relax by doing sport, music and drama. (International Day of Education 24th January 2024) |
February | Article 13 – You have the right to find out things and say what you think unless it harms the rights of others. (Safer Internet Day 6th February 2024) |
March | Article 27 – You have the right to a good standard of living.
(International Women’s Day 8th March, World Sleep Day 15th March)
