The \u2018Early Learning in Fife Podcast\u2019 provides a platform for guests to share insights, experiences, and expertise surrounding different curricular areas and important topics, as well as exploration of the variety of interesting and valuable things that are happening across the service.<\/p>\n

Podcasting is a more informal and conversational approach to \u2018Professional Learning.\u2019 The format provides opportunity for the sharing of insights, ideas, and personal experiences that listeners can draw inspiration from and apply within their own practice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tEpisode 1 – The Art of Storytelling (Part 1)<\/div>\n
\n

In this episode, Aileen Allan joins Scott Bissett to discuss where her passion for stories comes from, why storytelling is such an important and beneficial part of children\u2019s Early Years\u2019 experience, and draws upon her own experiences to provide insight, advice and encouragement for those who may find storytelling a daunting experience.<\/p>\n

\n\tEpisode 3 – Prem Awareness in Fife<\/div>\n

Research has shown that premature birth is a risk factor that can impact children\u2019s learning, development, academic achievement, and future adulthood. Being \u2018prem aware\u2019 enables staff to identify children at risk, pursue early interventions, and to support children through their educational journey at key transition points.<\/p>\n

In this episode, Andrea Henderson helps us to explore what \u2018prem-awareness\u2019 means, the potential implications that being born prematurely can have for both children and their families, and provides insight into her role as Fife\u2019s ambassador for the prem-aware charity, \u2018The Smallest Things.\u2019<\/p>\n

In this episode, we\u2019re joined by NHS Fife Speech & Language Therapist, Roma More.<\/p>\n

Roma shares details of her journey into the world of Speech & Language Therapy (SALT), discusses the special relationship that the SALT service shares with Early Years, and provides insight into the positive impact practitioners can have on children\u2019s speech, language and communication development.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Roma outlines the way that the SALT service functions, highlights the diverse range of programmes on offer, and discusses the various resources and projects that have been created and delivered in collaboration with Early Years.<\/p>\n
