{"id":996,"date":"2025-04-18T15:15:13","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T14:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/ferryport\/?p=996"},"modified":"2025-04-18T15:15:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-18T14:15:13","slug":"week-beginning-14th-april-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/ferryport\/2025\/04\/18\/week-beginning-14th-april-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Week Beginning 14th April 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monday<\/p>\n<p>Today there was a lot of discussion using a wide and varied range of vocabulary, including some mathematical language, to share ideas, design and build a variety of different \u00a0vehicles using the Lego. \u201cMines got 4 wheels!\u201d \u201c Mines got 2 wheels and it can go really fast\u201d \u201cI\u2019ll put another bit on the front to make it go faster\u201d \ud83d\ude97\ud83d\ude8e\ud83d\ude9aThe writing table was popular today with some children making their own story books \u201cMy story books all about myself!\u201d \ud83d\udcdademonstrating that they can use writing in a variety of contexts. Outdoors today some of our children decided to make\/create their own drum kits by sourcing a variety of different vessels then exploring the different sounds they made. \u201cThis is a loud one!\u201d \u201cI\u2019m going to hit it hard!\u201d \u201cThis one\u2019s quieter\u201d\ud83e\udd41<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-997\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/14142114\/IMG_0518-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-1000\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/14142255\/IMG_0519-1-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-999\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/14142126\/IMG_0530-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>We had lots of discussion re magnets and what different materials\/objects magnets would, and would not, stick to! We looked out the magnetic fishing \ud83c\udfa3 game which created further discussion whilst developing our turn taking skills. Some of the children demonstrated their engineering skills by designing, problem solving and sharing ideas whilst building a racing track \ud83c\udfc1using the building blocks. They then used our estimation skills to predict which cars\ud83d\ude97\ud83d\ude99would go the fastest. There was lots of energetic play outdoors today developing our gross motor skills by running, jumping, pedalling etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1002\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/15123805\/IMG_0532-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1001 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/15123803\/IMG_0516-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>Today the whales\ud83d\udc0b were creating \u00a0interest in the water tray creating discussions about sizes, how fast they swim , what they eat etc. \u00a0Size also featured in the sand tray where several children used a variety of different shaped\/sized containers to build sandcastles\ud83c\udff0 creating use of mathematical and descriptive language. Our interest in jewellery making continued at the beach\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f today with some children looking for treasure e.g. sea glass, shells, flowers to design and create bracelets.\ud83d\udc1a\ud83c\udf38<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1003\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/16150826\/IMG_0653-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1004 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/16150831\/IMG_0542-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1005 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/16150835\/IMG_0541-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thursday<\/p>\n<p>Some of the children helped \u00a0give the garden a bit of a makeover. After a discussion with the children, and taking on board some of their ideas\ud83d\udca1, we decided firstly to move the mud kitchen\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udf73. \u00a0Most of the children were involved in helping clear\ud83e\uddf9 the new area and move\ud83d\udcaa the mud kitchen to its new home. They demonstrated fantastic team work &amp; negotiating skills whilst doing this! \u00a0Look out for further developments in our nursery garden!<br \/>\nJigsaws\ud83e\udde9 were a popular choice today with children working well together using problem solving skills to complete the jigsaws. \u00a0The brick area \ud83e\uddf1was busy today with some children planning and building Bluey\u2019s house\ud83c\udfe0 using negotiating skills to decide which part each child was going to build.<\/p>\n<p>. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-1006\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/17144636\/IMG_0666-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-1007\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/17144643\/IMG_0664-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-1008\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2025\/04\/17144648\/IMG_0657-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Friday<\/p>\n<p>Today we explored a variety of different Easter themed activities throughout the nursery\ud83d\udc23. \u00a0Whilst using\/developing our fine motor, drawing, cutting and writing skills some made Easter chick masks, some chose to create their own Easter cards and we had an Easter story in the garden whilst enjoying a little Easter chocolate treat\ud83d\ude09\ud83d\udc25\ud83e\udd5a.
