This week we will enjoy a variety of activities related to \u201cBook Week Scotland\u201d starting today with a discussion. Children were invited to bring their favourite books to nursery to share with others.\ud83d\udcda \u00a0Today we had lots of discussion about the weather \u201cIt\u2019s freezing!\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s frosty!\u201d \u201cWhy is it all white?\u201d Developing use of language and questioning. We left some water in a variety of different sized\/shaped containers to see what happens to the water over night! \ud83e\udd76- developing our experimental\/investigation skills as to how water can change from one form to another\u2744\ufe0f<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-561\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2024\/11\/19080744\/IMG_3652-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-562\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2024\/11\/19081054\/IMG_3674-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>Today some children were experimenting in the water tray by adding different coloured paint\ud83c\udfa8 to see what happens when the paints mix together. Good use of mathematical language whilst pouring\/filling\/mixing. \u00a0The children were exited to find yesterdays containers with water in had frozen\ud83e\uddca causing lots of excitement and discussion \u201cWhat\u2019s happened?\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s like glass!\u201d \u201cWe can smash it!\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s so cold!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-564\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2024\/11\/21073825\/IMG_3698-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday<\/p>\n<p>Today all our children engaged in a \u2018Meet The Author\u2019 session on the smart board . They listened to a song and story by the author Tom Fletcher. The title of the story was called \u201cThere\u2019s A Monster In Your Book!\u201d . During our visit to the beach today we had discussions about the weather after finding patches of snow \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s all white!, \u201c The grass is hard!\u201d \u201cIt sounds crunchy when we walk on it! \u2744\ufe0fThe children commented that the tide was quite far out creating questions as to whether the tide was coming in or going out!\ud83c\udf0a Developing our awareness of our local environment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-565\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2024\/11\/21074602\/IMG_3681-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-566\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/fi\/public\/ferryport\/uploads\/sites\/14493\/2024\/11\/21074607\/IMG_3686-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thursday<\/p>\n<p>Today in gym we developed our shape, colour recognition\ud83d\udd3a\ud83d\udd35\ud83d\udfe8, listening skills\ud83d\udc42and following instructions whilst joining in with \u00a0a variety of games. All children then explored a variety of different gym equipment developing turn taking skills, gross and fine motor skills as well as hand\/eye coordination\ud83c\udfc3\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83e\udd38\u200d\u2640\ufe0f. We listened to the different sounds and experimented by playing them fast, slow, quietly and loudly. The band then marched around the nursery singing and playing their instruments.
