Week Beginning 2nd September

Monday:

This week started with lots of role play.
Some of us built police cars with the large blocks and made handcuffs from pipe cleaners to support our play.
“I have a police dog called K9”

Tuesday:

Tuesday we played mostly outside.
Some of us used the small blocks to create towers and “McDonalds”!
There was lots of sharing resources with our friends and building resilience when our wonderful creations fall down !

We had a great time being back up in the mud kitchen now that we have new garden steps.
We made cups of tea and chatted about what we like to have with a cup of tea and what our family members like with tea (kitkats apparently!). Lots of great discussions to add to our PLJs 😊.

Wednesday:

Wednesday we were busy!
Peter Rabbit computer game is a firm favourite at the moment. We’re practicing directional language and sharing our strategies with our friends.

We are continuing our interest  in construction and engineering with building houses.

”This is a baby house, no grown ups allowed!”.

Working as a team to build and tidy up again. We’re trying hard with our tidying up, some of us find this tricky, but we’re still trying. 😁

Thursday

Almost all of us spent Thursday morning outside in the garden,  riding the bikes & scooters, playing families in the playhouse, digging in the mud pit, playing in the mud kitchen, and role playing a “Chocolate Town”! Lots of valuable learning, creating, sharing, turn taking, exploring, counting, contextual learning – phew, what a busy morning!

A small group of us even helped Miss Higgins at the shop to buy more flour!

Friday:

We found different sized/shaped leaves in our nursery garden. We tried some leaf rubbing using various Autumn coloured crayons-developing our knowledge and understanding of the world around us.  The children chose some new musical instruments to add to our outdoor music area – this created lots of discussion re the different sounds the instruments made. “This one’s really noisy 🙉” “We’re a band 🎸🥁🪇”

Week Beginning 26th August 2024

Monday:- This morning a few of us have been exploring the Lego using our creative and fine gross motor skills to build cars and houses.

Tuesday:- Lots of outdoor play, mark making with the chalk then exploring mixing water onto the chalk drawing changing the texture of the chalk.

Wednesday:- Exploring the new stairs in the garden today, creating games around them with Hoola hoops and developing our co-ordination running up and down them.

Thursday:- Today we have enjoyed making “necklaces” watching Mrs Wright threading beads onto the string. Some of us then tried by ourselves to make one by themselves finding different ways to attach the beads when it got too tricky to thread.

Friday:- Most of us have enjoyed lots of energetic role play in the garden this morning. Inside a few of us have made birthday cakes using the play dough.

Hope you have a lovely weekend. See you next week .

Ferryport this Week (morning session) . . .Week Beginning: Monday, 1st July 2024

Welcome to our Ferryport Blog page (Morning Session)

In response to our Quick Question Time (Microsoft Forms) relating to accessing our Weekly Whiteboard information, we are now moving to  our exciting, electronic Blog page to share our weekly information.

We hope you enjoy exploring our learning and experiences over the week . . .

On Monday, children were busy building at the blocks and role playing, ‘Vets.’  Some children, have created some beautiful artwork using feathers. Maisie, Jack, Theo and Lucas were using road markings and roundabouts to support their role play on the bikes and scooter.  Louie, Conor, Hamish and Jude negotiated then successfully collaborated to create a waterpark carpark representing their ideas through imaginative roleplay.

On Tuesday and throughout the week, the Sneaky Shark Pair Game has been popular developing our turn taking, matching and counting skills.

Our Creative Construction System Kit has been popular too with children developing their skills in matching pieces and following step by step visual instructions to create different transport models.

On Wednesday, we all took part in our Beach Kindergarten where a variety of shells and sea glass were collected which generated discussion about texture, colour and why items were special to them. Most of the children discussed the incoming tide and the impact on the space around them.

On Thursday, many of us continued to use the Creative Construction System to  build helicopters, diggers and trucks.  Theo and Rory continued the animal role play interest from the start of the week by being dogs and giving and following instructions.

Maisie, Gracy and Lucas C have been developing their upper body strength and developing their gymnastic bar moves.
