This morning there has been lots of outdoor water play. “ Making a bath and drinking water for insects and small animals in our garden to drink and play in.” There has been a lot of discussion using mathematical language “we don’t want it too deep because the animals will drown,” Looking after the insects/small animals that live in our garden.

There was a cafe role play game at the mud kitchen. Using Recipe books to select what to make for the cafe. Lots of co operative play, listening to others and learning from books, helping to develop communication skills.

This morning our first group of children visited the shore. They had a picnic snack with sandwiches, fruit and a milk shake. A group of children role played a game on the rocks developing their gross motor skills, and another group role played tigers negotiating their different roles.

At nursery lots of children used buckets of water and paintbrushes to paint the fence and the wall at the side of the garden. Using different vessels to explore volume and develop the use of mathematical language.

Wednesday
The pre school children had a Bookbug session at school as part of our transition visit. We then went to the classroom to explore and to meet new friends and some of the school teachers.

At nursery a small group of children explored the globe with a little adult support as part of our destinations learning wall. We looked at where countries are on the globe and what the flags are for these countries. Developing our understanding of the world around us and developing our technology skills.

We gathered together to practice our nursery rhymes for our sponsored nursery rhymes day, which we all done really well and learned some new rhymes.
Thursday
This morning we all practiced our races and potted sports in the gym hall at school. Everyone tried hard, there was lots of encouragement by cheering each other on from the side lines when it was not their race.

We had lots of stories in the garden, a favourite was Balancing Bertie. Children were predicting what would happen next, giving their ideas and talk about what they liked about the story.
A small group of children gathered items from around the nursery to use as props in their role play game. Using money, car keys and a basket to extend their play/learning.
