.

Today we learned it was Bastille day, a parent kindly came in to speak to us about the celebrations and the traditions happening in France. The children were very intrigued about the French language, some of us practiced how to say our names , our colours and some other words.

CC – ‘The Eiffel tower is in France.’

RC-‘ What is the numbers in French?’

JM-‘I can say it in Polish’ then proceeded to count to 3 in Polish as well as being able to  repeat some of the colours back in French.

Some children suggested to build the Eiffel tower out of bricks.

Everyone enjoyed the sunshine, there was a mixture of space hopping , action games , balancing and a lot of dancing to a variety of music.

‘The floor is lava’ was the favourite!

Today there was a lot of creative play, most of the child were using popsicle sticks to invent ‘Ninja Stars.’ First they started off by sticking 2 together with cellotape to see how far it would fly outside, using directional language to describe such as high and low to compare.  They then discovered some did not fly at all which then created discussion to problem solve by adding more sticks or More material. All children explored the garden,  developing their gross motor skills. Some used space hoppers and balls to practice racing whilst  the rest of the children enjoyed balancing on the trim trail and on the seesaw.

Some children took an interest the paint app selecting characters to colour and discovering the variety of tools and functions.

Some today were taking care of the babies in the home corner , there was a lot of discussion and conversation about how to look after them.

CC – ‘Look we can put them to sleep here’

RC -‘ Okay, I can get them to sleep by rocking them’

CC – ‘They need food’

As the day went on we added bubbles to the water which sparked interest and everyone took a turn in the tray, some were describing the feel of the bubbles as ‘popping’.

Out in the garden children were using the cable reels to see if they can roll them as they were all different sizes.

‘Look I can fit on this one’

‘This one is too big’

We made use of the big space outside of the nursery room , where some children used a variety of Materials to create a ‘safety zone’ as there was an explosion ‘this way’. Also there was a destruction of a building, there was warning signs ‘stand back’ showing awareness of risk.

We had a visit from Mr Cameron who introduced us to the world of technology and all the different features that can be used with an Ipad or the smart board , we were able record ourselves then watching back in slow motion and fast motion. The children were inspired as they were trying out different body movements, grabbing toys to check if how they were on the screen.

Later in the morning some children wanted to take the Ipads down to the trim trail and play area to record themselves climbing and jumping from heights or videoing the nature around them.

Friday 18/07/2025.

Today was a very busy day, first it was free play around the garden and Lego building inside. Later Mr Cameron came to visit again with a lot more ideas for us. Some children created their own costumes with a variety of materials , a lot of imaginative ideas with learning how to use the tools safely required to add bits on and cut where we need to. We learned how to use the animation feature, where we drew something of interest and it recorded into a video of us doing it , there was a spark of trying different materials, there was cars and sand used too it was amazing how the children learned so quickly.

One was focused on spelling today , he was able to spell out the words ‘BINGO’ and ‘BLUEY’ with his alphabet. We noticed he could not find a letter at first so he used an alternate , but once found he figured out how to switch them round. Great work!

Lastly to burn off energy we all had a game of dodgeball in the big hall.  What a great week!
