Holiday

Tuesday

This morning there was continued interest in the paint app game on the computer. With some adult support children can choose an image and using the functions buttons they can now  edit colours, shapes and size. Then using the photocopier to make a paper copy of the completed image

Children have used the gym hall area well this morning to run, jump play football and dodge ball. Children leading their own games and agreeing rules through discussion.

Wednesday

This morning we have used the large pipe in the garden, rolling up and down the hill, noticing that it is harder to roll uphill and tricky to keep up rolling it downhill. Discovering simple forces.

Some of the children played a role play game of dinosaurs 🦕 they can name lots of different types of dinosaurs 🦖 🦕 and demonstrated how each one moved. Developing their gross motor skills and sharing knowledge with peers.

Thursday

We watched some cartoons using the smartboard. Children talked about differences when they saw an old cartoon and new cartoon. The colours were brighter on the new one and they like the new ones better. Developing our interest in film and screen, talking about our likes and dislikes.

Friday

We were plying cricket 🏏 in the gym hall this morning. Testing out which bat was best. Some were heavy some were light. They tried with both and each decided which one they liked best for the game. 🏏 then they practiced throwing and batting, developing their hand eye co ordination and gross motor skills. They discussed the rules and looked for adult support when needed.

We played skittles 🎳 taking time to set them up, counting to 4 then rolling the ball 🎳 to knock them down. We celebrated our success as we knocked the skittles 🎳 down.

Week Beginning Monday 14th July.

Monday 14/07/2025

.

Today we learned it was Bastille day, a parent kindly came in to speak to us about the celebrations and the traditions happening in France. The children were very intrigued about the French language, some of us practiced how to say our names , our colours and some other words.

CC – ‘The Eiffel tower is in France.’

RC-‘ What is the numbers in French?’

JM-‘I can say it in Polish’ then proceeded to count to 3 in Polish as well as being able to  repeat some of the colours back in French.

Some children suggested to build the Eiffel tower out of bricks.

Everyone enjoyed the sunshine, there was a mixture of space hopping , action games , balancing and a lot of dancing to a variety of music.

‘The floor is lava’ was the favourite!

Tuesday 15/07/2025

Today there was a lot of creative play, most of the child were using popsicle sticks to invent ‘Ninja Stars.’ First they started off by sticking 2 together with cellotape to see how far it would fly outside, using directional language to describe such as high and low to compare.  They then discovered some did not fly at all which then created discussion to problem solve by adding more sticks or More material. All children explored the garden,  developing their gross motor skills. Some used space hoppers and balls to practice racing whilst  the rest of the children enjoyed balancing on the trim trail and on the seesaw.

Some children took an interest the paint app selecting characters to colour and discovering the variety of tools and functions.

Wednesday 16/07/2025

Some today were taking care of the babies in the home corner , there was a lot of discussion and conversation about how to look after them.

CC – ‘Look we can put them to sleep here’

RC -‘ Okay, I can get them to sleep by rocking them’

CC – ‘They need food’

As the day went on we added bubbles to the water which sparked interest and everyone took a turn in the tray, some were describing the feel of the bubbles as ‘popping’.

Out in the garden children were using the cable reels to see if they can roll them as they were all different sizes.

‘Look I can fit on this one’

‘This one is too big’

Thursday 17/07/2025

We made use of the big space outside of the nursery room , where some children used a variety of Materials to create a ‘safety zone’ as there was an explosion ‘this way’. Also there was a destruction of a building, there was warning signs ‘stand back’ showing awareness of risk.

We had a visit from Mr Cameron who introduced us to the world of technology and all the different features that can be used with an Ipad or the smart board , we were able record ourselves then watching back in slow motion and fast motion. The children were inspired as they were trying out different body movements, grabbing toys to check if how they were on the screen.

Later in the morning some children wanted to take the Ipads down to the trim trail and play area to record themselves climbing and jumping from heights or videoing the nature around them.

Friday 18/07/2025.

Today was a very busy day, first it was free play around the garden and Lego building inside. Later Mr Cameron came to visit again with a lot more ideas for us. Some children created their own costumes with a variety of materials , a lot of imaginative ideas with learning how to use the tools safely required to add bits on and cut where we need to. We learned how to use the animation feature, where we drew something of interest and it recorded into a video of us doing it , there was a spark of trying different materials, there was cars and sand used too it was amazing how the children learned so quickly.

One was focused on spelling today , he was able to spell out the words ‘BINGO’ and ‘BLUEY’ with his alphabet. We noticed he could not find a letter at first so he used an alternate , but once found he figured out how to switch them round. Great work!

Lastly to burn off energy we all had a game of dodgeball in the big hall.  What a great week!

Week Beginning 7th July 2025

We are still enjoying exploring our new temporary environment with children sharing ideas of where to put things etc.  Today we also ventured into the surrounding playing fields exploring the trim trail and a variety of outdoor activities e.g. balls, cones and space hoppers- developing our sharing/turn taking, gross/fine motor skills as well as sharing ideas of different games to play.
Lego was popular today with a variety of models being created by representing/sharing ideas whilst designing and problem solving.

Tuesday

Today some of the children were experimenting in the water tray with the papettes “How far can we squirt the water?” “My waters going further than yours!” “Let’s see if we can hit the whale.” Exploring the force of water whilst developing use of language.
We explored another/different area of the outdoors today whilst developing our turn taking skills on the see saw and experimenting with our balancing skills and developing our gross motor skills.

Wednesday

Today a few children explored different kinds of forces whilst experimenting with the tyres -How far will it go? Will it reach the fence? How fast will it go?  Developing our estimation skills and use of mathematical language.  At the work bench some children shared ideas whilst planning/designing what kind of model they were going to build developing turn taking, problem solving skills and demonstrating their knowledge of how to keep themselves safe whilst wearing safety goggles to protect their eyes, holding/using the tools correctly and safely.

Thursday

Today all the children went on an adventure to the local estate. “We’re going on a bear hunt!” “I wonder where we’re going?” “What are we going to see?” “Is it far?” Whilst developing our questioning skills we explored and became more familiar with the local area. The children used a variety of vocabulary/language to describe their adventure on their return to nursery. Some of the children used a variety of resources/materials to represent their ideas, developing problem solving, designing, language and creative skills.

Friday

Monday

We have had a busy start to our week with lots of role play in the garden using our small world dinosaurs 🦖 they showed how to care for them by feeding them & using their voice to create the different sounds of the dinosaurs. Some of the children have been playing cards developing their memory skills as well as speed when they were playing snap.

Tuesday

Today we have had lots of creating with our junk modelling & some elaborate structures created. The children will then use the models in their play which today was used as many different props.  At snack we had some fantastic helpers to chop our fruit developing fine motor skills as well good life skills.

Wednesday

Some children were using the fire engine to role play they then used ropes for their own fire & rescue operation. They spent quite some time negotiating how they were developing the role play. Some children explored a new number matching game.

Thursday

Today some of the children performed singing & dancing with each performance receiving the thumbs up from the audience there was a wide variety in performances for us all to enjoy. The blocks have been popular today using them to build engines & exploring using our voice to create characters in the role play.
