Monday

Using the blocks a large group of children worked together whilst developing their communication skills by sharing and listening to different ideas. This creation became a large complex structure whilst focusing on detail to create different heights and displays. Other children then joined along the way which was then used for imaginative role play.

At beach kindergarten, children were able to identify the change in the tide and discuss the force of the waves as it crashed at the shore.

Some have been discussing the learning wall topic of ‘pets’ and sharing how they care for their pets. One child shared their understanding of a pets affection.

Thursday

We had visit from a child’s puppy which lead to more questions for our learning wall, discussing the health and wellbeing.  At gym we all participated in a yoga session using our listening skills and gross motor skills to stretch  and move our bodies to warm up before using the apparatus.

Friday

We had a visit from a child’s pet chicken which sparked questions that the children had as well as gaining new information on chickens. Everyone had the opportunity to stroke the pet if they chose to . This helped to develop confidence as well as using descriptive language to describe a new experience for everyone as they got to stroke a chicken.  A few of the children created a castle using the building blocks which then developed into creative play to use their structure.  Some children and their parents joined our Bookbug session this morning listening to a new story Hen in the Bed.

We had our weekly visit to the primary school for our gym session today. Following our interest in pets we talked about our different pets and how they move. We then explored different ways of moving our bodies in ways to replicate the way our  pets move e.g. slithering, wriggling, jumping, walking, running🐕🐇🐈🐛🪱🐍🐓 etc. We explored some gym apparatus learning how to use it safely and developing our turn taking skills. Some of the children shared/ represented their ideas by using the bricks to build a house🏠, planning where the bedrooms were and using the shop as their kitchen area. With some adult support they copied and pasted the information they were looking for then printed it using the photocopier- developing our knowledge and use of technology.🧑‍💻🖱️. They then added their information to our learning wall. Today we also visited the Community Gardens where we listened to some interesting information about mini beasts🐛🐞🕷️🐌🪱🐝 and listened to a variety of mini beats related stories before helping collect wood, cones etc to create a woodpile next to the pond for the mini beasts in the garden.
