Week Beginning 16th December

Monday

Today some of the children explored the different tools which were in the book. This introduced using the drill. Through discussion of how to keep ourselves safe the children wore safety goggles, patiently waited turns and gave space to those using the drill.  Discussion of direction and discovering how the drill works the children were able to understand the function.

Tuesday

Whilst exploring letters a child showed interest in signalong alphabet by observing the formation of letters with hands. This lead to some nursery rhymes being sung in signalong ‘three little speckled frogs appeared to be the favourite.’ Using the post box at the writing table this encouraged children to mark make using pincer grips, some were able to write recognisable letters familiar to them whilst others were able to independently write their name.

Wednesday

Today there was lots of creativity, by some of our children, using the magnetic shapes. Lots of designing, problem solving, shape recognition and sharing of ideas. The majority of our children enjoyed a visit from Jamie The Jester who provided lots of laughter and the children enjoyed assisting him with some of his tricks before giving each child a balloon model.

Thursday

Today in gym the majority of our children had fun practicing a variety of party games developing our listening skills and ability to follow instructions. Our writing table was busy today with several of  our children writing letters to Santa developing our mark making, writing and letter recognition skills.

Friday

Today the majority of our children participated in our Christmas party engaging in a variety of party games, enjoying some party foods before performing a selection of Christmas songs for parents/family members. The party ended with a visit from Santa for whom the children sang Jingle Bells before Santa handed out gifts to all the children.
