Internet Safety
All the children learn how to use the internet and technologies safely as they progress through the school as part of our Health and Wellbeing Pathway and our Digital Literacy learning. In P7 the children receive an internet safety input from Police Scotland.
Examples of learning outcomes for our pupils:
First Level – P2-4
Understand the importance of being and feeling safe.
Assess safe & unsafe situations and behaviours and their effects on wellbeing
Recognises what should and shouldn’t be searched for on the internet.
Demonstrate understanding of the potential dangers online and who to go to for advice and who to report a concern to.
Demonstrate understanding for the need for strong passwords
Explains the need to get a person’s permission before taking a picture or video of them.
Second Level – P5-7
Learn to develop skills & make informed choices.
Begin to understand what is meant by peer pressure.
Identify impact of risk-taking behaviours on life choices
Demonstrate understanding of content they should include in an online profile
Discuss importance of being a responsible digital citizen, giving examples of appropriate online behaviours
Identify appropriate ways to report concerns
Use of strong passwords
Has understanding of the law as it relates to inappropriate or illegal online behaviours.
